Managed Payments withholding 83% ...

Good morning happy Managed Payments Members!  Today is the Weekly Payout day and I am on the edge of my seat just waiting to see how much money I get paid this week ... or NOT!  I watched sales pile up over the weekend but no money move from Processing to Available AND watched as the Available funds went negative after printing about 15 labels last evening ...

At this time of the morning on most Payout days I already have the message saying they sent a payout but not today ... which may be a good thing LOL, otherwise I'll get stiffed this week.

And here's another little tidbit of information ... it may be hard to see on the pic below BUT below the Available funds section is their note about how much they sent the previous Payout ... well believe it or not it states they sent my last Weekly Payout on Wednesday the 10th NOT Tuesday the 9th ... doesn't that seem odd when Tuesday is the Weekly Payout day?

I just checked my Payments tab summary and am wondering if I should have the knee jerk reaction now or wait until tomorrow?!?  LOOK at the new message under the orange blocked out Available funds block ... it says next payout is on the 23rd ... MEANING THEY DID NOT SEND ME ANY MONEY THIS WEEK!!!

@Anonymous   Can you please explain to me why last week my Weekly Payout per your note on the above pic was made on Wednesday the 10th and NOT Tuesday the 9th and then this week, despite having sales as follows:

Thursday -  Feb 11 = 2 Sold items

Saturday -  Feb 13 = 7 Sold items

Sunday   -  Feb 14 = 7 Sold items

Monday   - Feb 15 = 3 Sold Items

That you stiffed me 100% of the monies owed from my sales this week and again per the pic above are telling me my next Weekly Payout is Feb 23 ... NEXT WEEK?!?  100% of my money was switched from Processing to Available by 3:30 PM Eastern Time today which is PAYOUT DAY!.  So, is this just a display glitch and you will be sending me my money tomorrow (Wed) just like you did last week????

You have expressed your desire for a "weekly" payout on a day other than Tuesday so that your weekend sales could process to available for the weekly payments. Maybe you are in a "beta test" for "weekly", other than on Tuesday.

@buyselljack2016   Yes you are correct, I did that on the phone with the MP rep last year, I also stated the need for in on a Weekly Chat.  If my account is actually part of a test they have not bothered to tell me in an eBay message ... so I suspect it's not a BETA thing but a glitch like they had last October on a Monday holiday would not surprise me ... at least I hope that's what it is.  The Tuesday in October they actually made 2 Payouts but they were both on Tuesday ... this is a little different ... I did NOT get a message stating there was NO payout for me this week or the regular one stating the payout sent was $ 0.00.

@top-down-fever

It is possible that if right now you switch your payout to "daily" you may get a "payout" tomorrow,(or Thursday) giving it a chance to make it to your checking this week. Mine make it to checking day after payout.

You can switch back to "weekly" at any time.

@buyselljack2016   If you read my last update you will see that as of this writing the stiffed me 100% from last week's payout ... which by the way was on Wednesday and NOT Tuesday.  I am really hoping this is Monday Holiday glitch and they payout tomorrow (Wednesday) anyway ... like they did back in October last year.  While I thought about switching to Daily (we're talking about a grand here) I am reluctant to do so because I just don't trust their system to adjust this week, I could see them saying, "your account will be switched to Daily Payouts after your next regularly scheduled Weekly Payout day."

Could go either way. Just a thought.

I'm going to go ahead, and be the "test pig" for this.

I have changed an account to be "daily". It says next "payout" set for Feb 17.

I will see what happens. If paid, I will then switch back to "weekly" to again see what happens. Bit of a pita for you, but could be a payment work around for your "weekend uptick" in sales.

I must say, I don't like the "new", less-transparent Blue screen in Managed Payments for cash.  I'd rather the older way with just lines of text and a bar that looked like a slow version of downloading----why---because "this is a bid-ness" (Purple Rain club manager).  Monday was a US Bank holiday and now that MP is under new rules for individual payments to clear, that's the way it is.  Still like it 1000 times more than the eBay/PayPal arrangement, but that blue screen can go.

Here's the issue, the Payout day is Tuesday, ANY monies in Available Payouts should be paid that day, sometime during the 24 hours of that day ... by 3:30 PM today (Payout Day) 100% of all monies owed from last week's Payout was shifted to Available ... therefore it should be paid, they still had 8 1/2 hours remaining in the day to payout.  They never said that Monday at midnight we determine how much we will send you on Tuesday Payout day, no, they said Tuesday was Payout day.

time to switch to daily reimbursements. I have not experienced any substantial delays, get the money every day other than the holidays, weekends etc. All sales proceeds as of 2/15 has been completed and sent to the bank.

Probably would not be the 1st time someone was in a "beta thing" without eBay telling them😊

Would be nice if they could be helpful with "seller selected" payout days for weekly, but you are likely correct ................  just another unexpected glitch.

@martin2001   Thanks but I prefer to check online banking once a week and make one entry per week in the check book ... I've never been opposed to eBay just keeping the balance and letting me "withdraw" money when I want to either ... like PayPal.  Put to have expectations based on THEIR information and settings in MP and have NO flexibility on which day of the week we desire our Payout day is really unreasonable.

So here's the argument ... MP allows a Daily Payout setting meaning they have agreed to payout any day Monday through Friday ... so there is absolutely NO reason why Weekly Payout users can't pick which day of the week they want their payout.  A number of years ago eBay posted an announcement about Auctions and ending them on weekends (I even think they were specific about Sundays) because 65 % of sales were made at that time ... this company has algorithms monitoring everything and to think they just pulled Tuesday out of the hat and said "this will be the Weekly Payout day" is not a likely reality.  They picked it for a financial reason, I'm not stupid.  Okay, I'm dumb but I am NOT stupid.

You could be on to something. 38.5% of the US federal holidays (5 out of 13) ALWAYS fall on Mondays.

@mr_lincoln

OK, so here we are.

2 buyer payments (12th, 14th) that would normally (normally for me) would have cleared for the "weekly" (Tuesday 16th) payout had not processed.

Other sales from the week were ready for, and were paid before 7AM on the 16th(check at 9:30 AM 17th shows deposit).

As with some of your lagging payments,  my 2 slow pokes processed to "available"  during the day on Tuesday.

I then switched from "weekly" to "daily", and it displayed there would be a "payout" on the 17th.

daily from weekly.jpg

That "payout" was made was made before 7AM on the 17th, and have a buyer payment from the 16th processing that will "payout" next Tuesday as I have changed back to "weekly".

payout daily.jpg

payout back to weekly 23rd.jpg

payouts weekly.jpg

So, as a "work around" for anyone with a slow processing payment it does work to not have to wait a "full week" for that next sprout.

Should you have to do it? Well ideally ...... no. I can see the need for "some" sellers to be able to select their "weekly" payment day, but we have no idea why that is not allowed. Seems like it would be easily programmable, and not sure that it would cause any issues for eBay.

With sellers being able to have "daily" payouts 5 days a week (sans Holidays) it would seem that a "seller selected weekly payout day" would be no different.

There are probably many sellers that have, as you do, spiked selling days, and theirs may be during other days of the week for whatever particular reason.

Financial reason?  We keep hearing that the money is not in a "bank/financial institution", so there is no "float interest" being made. That's beyond my "pay grade", so I really don't know.

With many "Monday" Holidays, Tuesday would be the logical solution for catching up on payouts.

It really doesn't matter which day eBay selects for the "weekly" day.  There would be in theory (my theory) 20% (100 divided by 5) of the sellers unhappy with whatever day was selected.

Well perhaps that could get skewed a bit if it were Monday, as those "Holiday Mondays" would shift to Tuesday.

Re: Managed Payments withholding 83% ...

That starts in March..got this email today  "Beginning in late March, eBay will phase out the billing of selling fees and expenses via a monthly invoice. Instead, eBay will collect fees and other expenses, such as those resulting from refunds, claims or disputes directly from your earnings. If your earnings are not sufficient to cover these amounts, we will charge your payment method on file (debit or credit card, and/or linked bank account)."

@buyselljack2016   Okay, thanks for that, proof that there is a work around BUT if you saw my post on the Chat today LAST week they made my Tuesday Payout on Wednesday and that wasn't even after a Holiday weekend.  So why not do it again today?  ALL my money processed to Available by 3:30 PM PAYOUT DAY ... so since it was still payout day it should have been paid.  Now the kicker is that they intentionally picked Tuesday for Payout day NOT allowing Sellers to change it ... this way they can duplicate what they did to me on many Selling accounts ...

In the next 10 years (including this year) there are about 100 holidays where banks are closed ... 62 of them are on Mondays ... let me repeat that, 62 of the next 100 bank closure holidays are on Mondays.    Pic below (I left Good Friday in the chart but did NOT include it in the tabulation - 11 states treat it as a State Holiday and close banks.)   To say I am not happy about this would be an understatement ... to read their "canned" replies to this sort of thing is infuriating ... the bottom line is now that accounts are in MP they will continue to simply do things when they want and keep changing things so they have more and more control of Seller's money.

@go-bad-chicken   Thought you would appreciate a chart showing Monday Holidays projected out to over 12 years ... Tuesday as the Weekly Payout day was intentional ... period.  I left Good Friday on the chart, 11 states have it as a State Holiday and close banks ... so excluding that day and just looking at the first 10 years on the chart there are are 100 Holidays where banks are closed and 62 of them are on Mondays ... yes, 62.  So the Weekly Payout day of Tuesday was NOT random ...
