Managed Payments and Coins Timing

Coins have not been allowed in Managed Payments so I have not changed over yet.  On January 13th I will receive a message to move to Managed Payments and I am told I will be able to list coins on Managed Payments on the 25th of January. I have called and asked if I register on the 13th and they activate me earlier than the 25th will I be able to still list until the 25th the regular way?  They are not sure but sure I can't list coins until the 25th.  I have asked if I schedule sales up through the 24th the regular way will that work?  They say I can schedule the regular way but once Managed Payments is activated my listings the old way will not be allowed to post anyway.  Am I about to have a week or more without a way to post listings?  I called Managed Payments directly and they are not sure but told me to only sign up when asked or this might be a longer time.  I firmly believe this is a large computer situation and no one can actually predict what the system will do.  No human may know this answer.

It has been answered on another post that those selling primarily coins that are being invited   opted into MP will not be activated until the  25th.

Thank you for your reply.  The woman from Managed Payments did say on the phone that they were giving people a "work around" when they opted in too early by telling them to create a new eBay account to sell coins the old way before they were sure coin selling would be approved.  (But you did not have your feedback rating etc.)  And I think they never planned on that so let's hope this actually happens as the answer you heard states.  So many parameters, such as if Managed payments do not start as you say until the 25th, and I posted a listing on the 23rd the old way with PayPal, when it comes up 7 days later on the 30th the buyer will be able to pay with PayPal.  Maybe I am wrong to worry.

Re: Managed Payments and Coins Timing

A lot I list on January 20th for 7 days I do the normal way.  On the 27th it will be paid with Managed Payments.

A lot I list on January 17th for 7 days I do the normal way.  On the 24th it will be paid with PayPal.

A lot I list on January 18th for 7 days I do the normal way.  On the 25th it will be paid with Managed Payments.

If there is no response from eBay to this direct question I will take that to mean this is all correct.  I sign up for managed payments on the 13th as requested.  eBay says Managed payments will not be activated until the 25th when they are legal to take money for the category and not before.  So the three sentences above are all correct and nothing will be an issue for myself or the buyers.  If there is no response from eBay to this direct question I will take that to mean this is all correct.

In response to:  If there is no response from eBay to this direct question I will take that to mean this is all correct.   There will be no response from "eBay" to what you have posted here. These are community boards made up of buyers & sellers, not "eBay".  Generally the only time you will see a response on these boards is when a "blue" has been "tagged" seeking a response.

Any "auction" style listings started before you are "activated" in MP will be paid out to your PP.  Least wise that is how it has worked so far for other sellers.

Wow, that is very clear and now I know I will only see managed payments utilized by the auction site on February 1st 2021.  Because the first auction created under managed payments will be the January 25th auction that ends on February 1.  Thanks for the clarification!

Re: Managed Payments and Coins Timing

Spoke to Ebay today.  I was told 2 days ago that coins would be able to be listed if on Managed Payments on 1/25.  I got an error message today 1/26 that I cannot do it.   Now they say not until  2/20 if you have a business account, and 3/9 if an individual account!   Nobody there knows anything!

Re: Managed Payments and Coins Timing

Well, I'm glad SOMEBODY finally came up with an "answer" - thanx for sharing that!
I say, "answer," because I have seen previous "answers" that turned out to be untrue... (Not necessarily because the one posting was lying - but SOMEBODY did!)
I say, "finally," because I have been digging through these forums for a couple of days now to find out whether a previous hard-to-find "answer" (OK to list coins after 1/25) was true.  Apparently, it was not, as I found out when I tried by trial-and-error to go ahead and list a coin - and it was NOT allowed...

Even more confusing, I have seen reports that some HAVE been allowed to list coins - along with one person who was able to list ONE coin, but then denied to list a SECOND one.  What are they smoking in San Jose, these days??
