Managed Payments Issues

Recently, I enrolled in Ebay Mangeed Payments for sellers because the indicastion was that my selling acount would be limited if I did not switch from Paypal to Managed Payments. I have been very disappointed and frankly, I feel defrauded by Ebay, because I still have not received funds in my account from a sale 3 days ago. I miss Paypal, when I transferred the funds to my bank account myself, and the money was available the next day. I would like to hear from other disgruntled sellers and discuss ways around this inferior system.

Re: Managed Payments Issues

After having read  through a chunk of the comments on managed payments I am leaning towards leaving my

$13,000 draft listings where they are, in the draft section, the listings are completed and just awaiting my registration for managed payments, which may never come if half of what I have  read so far is half true.  I may do a lot more reading before I decide to take the plunge. I will be looking for another platform or perhaps opening an online store where I get to call the shots 🙂

If PayPal decided to go up as competition  against eBay they would have instant success 🙂

Re: Managed Payments Issues

eBay has tried this type of stunt before.  I wonder if any of you remember the 'PayPal Only' payment scam that eBay tried to pull some time ago, That was when eBay had a finger in PayPal's pie it was to have been rolled out in Australia as a test before it was going to be rolled out worldwide. A small dedicated group of us got together and opposed it. we sought out all sort of influential people in banking, legal profession and government and we put our case to them in the public eye,  eBay pulled out of the scheme with their tail between there legs and canned the scheme. So you can see that even a small group of dedicated people can make a difference, but you have to be dedicated and not give up until the job is done. I wonder if in todays times there can be enough people found who are willing to put effort into getting managed Payment canned for the mess that it is. in doing so they may just save eBay because this path leads to destruction for eBay and members alike,

Right, because expanding from being a payment processor to running a massive e-commerce site is a piece of cake. [smh]

At least they would have the payment system all sorted 🙂

That is the majority of the problems

I think buyer/seller fraud dwarfs the payment processing issues.

You missed out the most important point in all that though, MP/Adyen only PROCESSES the payments, the payment OPTIONS are actually now more varied than ever, including PayPal, major credit cards, Apple and Google pay.

No monopolistic issues here.

Re: Managed Payments Issues

That applies only to a certain point on Ebay. Sellers who offer a 1 day handling time have to either ship or refund within a day. Also should update my original post as now Ebay is holding funds from Thursday afternoon sales until  finally paying out on Monday. So if some one buys an item and provides an invalid shipping address on a Wednesday, You have to ship on Thursday or refund. If you refund, it will be deducted from your Friday payout even though you will not be paid for the initial sale until the following Monday.  If you do not ship or refund by Friday, you will receive a late shipment defect on your account. Its a lose- lose situation for sellers any way you slice it. If a user requests a cancel on an item sold on Thursday afternoon, why should a seller have to message a the user to tell them to wait til Monday for a refund to begin to be processed? This is all make work created by Ebay that didnt exist with Paypal.  If Ebay can take take the money out of your bank immediately to refund, they can pay immediately- just like Paypal has done for years. No excuse for this what so ever.

Re: Managed Payments Issues

I'm one of those sellers.

Dropped Free S&h on low end items.

Moved my s&h to 10 days.

And now give returns on the buyers Dollar.

Things are fine as most buyers don't read the fine print anyway.

Do it now💯 CYA!

@audiovideo4me

"Sellers who offer a 1 day handling time have to either ship or refund within a day."  No they don't.  It is a good idea, but they don't have to.  Once the order is actually cancelled, shipping is a moot point.

"Also should update my original post as now Ebay is holding funds from Thursday afternoon sales until  finally paying out on Monday."  It takes 1-2 days to clear a pending payment before it becomes Available for a Payout.  Payouts are ONLY processed on BUSINESS days.  So yes this is not new that a Thursday sale is likely not going to be in a Payout until early the following week.  It has been like this since August of LAST year.

"So if some one buys an item and provides an invalid shipping address on a Wednesday, You have to ship on Thursday or refund. If you refund, it will be deducted from your Friday payout even though you will not be paid for the initial sale until the following Monday."  A couple of things with this statement.  You should NEVER ship to someone that you know has given you a bad ship to address, no exceptions.  To be covered under what few seller protections we have your MUST ship to the address on the payment, so if you know it is wrong, you need to cancel the transaction for a problem with the ship to address without exception.

And YES that is how the process works, when you refund a buyer for ANY reason, the refund comes from your Available funds.

You have legit questions.  Ones I've been asking since last year.  This year Ebay's hands are more that full trying to onboard 19 million sellers before the end of the year.  They are over 75% complete now.

I think we will see some good changes start to happen next year after Ebay gets all there sellers settled into MP that are going to register.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.  That is really all we can do for right now.

I think you meant you moved your Handling time to 10 days not your Shipping & Handling [that is a fee].  If that is correct, it is important to also consider that having a 10 day handling time also drops your listings in the searches too.  For some that is just fine, but it is just something everyone should be aware of before doing something like that.  Certainly your choice and if it works for you that is terrific, but for other it may not be something they want to happen, so when you explain what you have done, you might want to qualify it so that everyone is fully informed.

Re: Managed Payments Issues

What other company would have the audacity to exploit your personal bank account whenever they choose to do so? It's not fraud, but darn close to it

Dang that is quite an inflammatory statement, but then I'm sure you made it that way on purpose @planet_power .

PayPal has it for one.  I sell on a few other sites and they all have their own money processing systems, so they all have it to.

Now let's talk the reality of the bank routing number.  That is not now nor has it ever been PRIVATE account info.  Bank routing numbers for most any bank can be had by a simple Google search or many times it is stated on the Bank's website.

Your checking account number is slightly different.  Have you ever written a physical check and given it to anyone or even an echeck.  Both types you are giving your bank routing number AND your checking account number to whomever you issued the check to.

Look, you have every right not to register for MP.  It is a personal choice.  You just need to do what is best for you.  But no need to try and come up with excuses as to why you don't want to register.  It just isn't necessary.  Because you decided not to is all you need.  Nothing more.
