As ebay will now have total control of my money (No instant payment into bank account option)
How are we to protect ourselves from the scammers who receive their purchase and lodge a false complaint ?
We will never see our monies or our merchandise again.
The savings offered are negligible for small sellers like myself. Not worth the extra risk or lack of seller remediation which is almost assured.
The worst part is the switch over now or else attitude.
Sellers should be afforded the option to switch to managed payments or remain with PayPal.
Buyers should be offered clarity regarding the sellers payment options, and be allowed to make their purchase choices using the system they prefer.
Remember the shipping program they tried to push down our throats and what a cluster it was.
BRACE YOURSELVES or move along like so many of us will.
I am not impressed.
Having used eBay since it was an infant , I am saddened by the adult it has become.

"As ebay will now have total control of my money" Actually Ayden handles your money.
"How are we to protect ourselves from the scammers who receive their purchase and lodge a false complaint ?" Same way you always did. We have never had much control over clever scammers.
" option to switch to managed payments or remain with PayPal" The contract between Paypal and eBay was not renewed. That means Paypal is not an option. My guess would be that Paypal would not renew under the old fee structure.

What's bad is that I would actually grudgingly go along with it, because eBay has worked out well for me as a place to sell things that don't sell elsewhere. But I can't even get help getting signed up for the Managed Payments. I get an error message every time and I know it's because they don't recognize my correct address but there is no way to remedy it. No way to get help...........I called and the lady was very nice but ultimately unable to resolve my issue and said I would get a call-back, which hasn't happened. And now I can't even get through on the phone again to talk to anyone.
I don't know. If I had a better place to sell, I would go there. I feel like I'm being forced out of eBay. It's not even by choice, it's because their managed payment website is so screwed up and there is no way to get help. How many seller are they going to loose just because we can't get signed up? Pretty sad.

What is the error message. Usually you don't get that error through MP until you have actually signed up.

As sellers we can not be "offered" something that will not exist. PP will not be processing buyer payments for eBay sellers.
It would be like someone coming to my "cash only" yard sale, and insisting that I take their "apple pay" payment.

MP is about processing payments. It is not about the eBay MBG.

I totally agree with you, eBay gives no protection to small sellers at all, only buyer win.
I change to MP and I'm paying more in fees than with PP what a big fat lie of eBay when promoting MP.

"I change to MP and I'm paying more in fees than with PP " Then you either have a big problem or don't understand the process. You do know that due to the new tax laws you are paying fees on the sales tax amount too.

eBay is forcing me to upload a Photo ID to "verify my identity". Expecting what a cluster**bleep** the managed payments will be i"m taking it as a last straw and just leaving the platform. What are some good alternatives? I'm currently on Depop and Amazon.

I haven't been able to get a callback from eBay all week. Through twitter i got boiler plate responses with 0 actual help.

Agreed.

Agree. They have enough experience they could have made the move more user friendly but choose not to. I haven't seen a payment yet and no help in site. Then we get these paid human bots to give us trite answers to questions.

Believe me, I understand the process, and I am paying over twice as much in seller fees when I sell a $1.00 postcard now that I'm in MP. I had a PP micropayment account (5% FVF + $.05 transaction fee).
PayPal: eBay fee $.09, PP $.10 ($.05 FVF + $.05 transaction fee), USPS $.55, other costs $.11 = $.85 ($.15 profit)
MP: MP $.42 ($.12 FVF + $.30 transaction fee, USPS $.55, other costs $.11 = $1.08 ($.08 loss)
