Keep money from sales in my eBay account instead of link to a bank account?

I want to sell things and then use that money to buy things on eBay. Can I keep money from my sales in my ebay account and not have to be linked to a bank account at all?

No.

Managed Payments simply processes payments, deducts fees, and transfers the remaining balance.

MP does not manage a balance account for you, or initiate payments to others on your behalf.

My understanding is that the latter comes with a completely different set of regulations and licensing.

You can do two things to have access to your funds, 1. Have a debit card linked to your checking account  or 2. Link your paypal account to your checking account.

I liked how I could let may eBay sales money accumulate in PayPal and then use that PayPal balance for purchasing on eBay. It seems like it would be easy and profitable for eBay, especially if the money sat there and you couldn't send it to a bank until you do do link your bank account like they are directing us to do. In the off chance of getting hacked, I really don't want my bank account linked.

Let me rephrase that: I would like to use money from my eBay sales exclusively for purchasing more stuff on eBay. How could eBay lose?

In order for eBay to keep our money in our own account, it will involve eBay becoming a "bank" and it will come with its own set of regulations and guidelines that may not necessarily be helpful overall to all of us. 

While the idea y itself is great, and I agree that it will be beneficial to us, there is a reason why they have not done it, and probably wont do it.

We get what you are asking, no rephrasing necessary.  eBay isn't a 'bank', and clearly I can't imagine wants to be.  Thus you will not get 'bank' functionality.

If you want to spend your eBay sales profits on eBay, as other has suggested, just get a Visa debit card that is linked to your bank account set up for your eBay payouts and realistically this gets you exactly what you want.

No, unfortunately, that ship has sailed.

You need to obtain a separate free bank account just for e-bay and your proceeds in that account can support your buying habits here or anywhere for that matter.

Not everyone takes Paypal.  But they do take Visa or Mastercard from your Bank.

Ebay does not, and never has kept your money in an account (they are not a bank), so obviously you cannot keep your money in Ebay.

If eBay had unlimited time and unlimited funds, I'm sure they could build a fully features system that manages balance accounts and transmits payments. 

But as I stated, maintaining a balance account on behalf of others involves a completely different set of regulations and licensing hurdles. Re-creating PayPal entirely from scratch in one go would not be an easy process. 

I suspect eBay will offer balance accounts in the future, but they need to learn to walk before they run.

It is also conceivable that their separation agreement with PayPal prevents them from competing directly with PayPal in certain business areas, at least for a certain period of time.
