I sold an item for $18.00 and was expecting to receive $15.00 but only received $3. Can someone explain why is that?

According to terapeak, it looks like you sold this for $18 recently:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/133810238531
The USA shipping was free, but the buyer probably paid sales tax, and the fees are calculated on the total payment the buyer made. So the eBay fees were probably under $3.00.

I don't see the particular item in your sold listings to even venture a solid guess. You might do well to post the particular item #. That said, are you sure you haven't selected one of the "special service" options?

Free shipping is free for the customer, not for you. You need to figure that cost into the listing price. You are paying shipping out of the funds they paid, the shipping is not free. Furthermore, you need to figure your profit after calculating what the highest shipping cost will be, along with fees paid on the total funds received from the customer adding in what the item cost you.

Hmm with out knowing how you pay for shipping (if by using MP or other) I could not tell you why.
I suspect you paid more than one items shipping form pending funds.
