Hold on my payment

Been on Ebay for almost 20 years.  Mostly just selling my own personal items.  Usually items under $100.  Just sold a vintage turntable for $1150 and after the sale Ebay said they are holding my payment until I provide my personal SS#.  I had no mention of this requirement when I listed the item.  Anyone else dealing with this or have any suggestions?

Ya I have a suggestion: Give them your SS# like many of the rest of us.

The requirement is dictated by the INFORM Act. The rules for all online sellers are similar, and they need to know "who you are" and have the information available to the appropriate federal agencies that check these things.

I suggest you just comply with whatever the system asks you for and they will release your funds once you have fullfilled the requirements we all have....

As far as "no mention of it", it is there when you submit your listing.....

Thank, but it's kinda buried in the fine print.  I know all this now, but don't sell enough to risk a security breach with my SS#.

I'm asking if anyone else has found another way.  I applied and received an EIN from the IRS but Ebay won't let me use that unless I change to a business account and change my user name to my actual full name.

I know of no other way....as I understand it...

after "X" amount of time (months + + +) the funds will be available in your states unclaimed funds department...

oh...guess what...you will need to divulge your SS# to retrieve it from them...

(do you really think that is more secure?)

They'll need your SSN to issue a 1099K.

If you want to continue to sell here and get paid, you'll have to provide it.

Have A Great Day.
