Here's a good one for account restricted

Yesterday, I got a notice that eBay was restricting my account.  First a little background:

I have sold on eBay for over 10 years.  I'm top rated + and had 8486 sales on eBay in the last 12 months and over $121,000 in total volume in that time.

Transaction defect rate - 0.22%

Late shipment rate - 2.4%

Tracking uploaded on time and validated - 95.53%

Cases closed without seller resolution 0.11% (1 single case that I forgot to reply to in november 2021)

Return rate - 0.46%

All of these metrics qualify any seller to be Top Rated on eBay.

So a few weeks ago, one of my suppliers contacted me and said he had some older model gopro cameras still new in the box back in his warehouse back stock and wanted to know if I could sell them.  Of course I researched it on eBay and found out that I could, so I made him an offer for them all.  I bought them and when I got them, I immediately began listing them on eBay.  The first day I had them listed, I sold like 3k worth through buy it now listings.  A couple days later, I had a couple of buyers who bought large quantities and I sold over 8k worth in one day.  This happened on Thursday last week.  Then today on 4/18, I get the following email from eBay:

Restore your selling privileges: Action required

We placed a temporary restriction on your account because we noticed activity that we believe is a risk to our community.

This restriction means the following:
- Your selling privileges are temporarily restricted. You won’t be able to create new listings or revise any listings that are live on our site. You also can’t register a new account at this time.
- If you are a seller participating in managed payments, we are withholding your future payouts. You’ll start getting paid again after you resolve your restriction and your account is reinstated.
- All of your listings may have been hidden from search for 10 days. If you don’t appeal within the 10-day period, we’ll end all active listings. If you do appeal and your appeal is successful, we’ll automatically restore your listings.
- Any fees paid or payable for listings that are ended and/or hidden from search will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

To appeal, you’ll need to:
- Resolve any outstanding issues with buyers through the eBay Resolution Center.
More specific details are provided below.

Once you complete these requirements, reply to this email, and we’ll review your account. We may ask you to provide additional information during our review.

The safety of our community is a top priority for us. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

You know the funny thing about this is that the "outstanding issue with buyer" that they reference was a case a buyer had filed against me for an item not received (a $6.79 item) that didn't even have to be responded to until 4/19.   I had basically another two full days to even respond.   And anyone with half a brain could clearly see that the Post Office had scanned the shipment numerous times.   Maybe they had lost it or maybe it was late as our USPS is so good at nowadays.  Regardless, I still had until 4/19 end of business day to respond.

So this morning I call eBay and after going through a couple of people who couldn't speak English, I get a nice lady who confirms that eBay is just restricting my account because of the increase in sales volume.  Fine.  I get that.  But why lie?  Why send me some email saying it's because of some case that I didn't respond to?  Like what's really going on here?  So instead of telling the guy I'd reship and providing the customer service that I normally would, I just refunded them so I could have the case closed.  So I responded to eBay telling them the case was resolved and now they sent the following:

We received your appeal for your eBay account and appreciate you taking the time to resolve any claims and provide tracking to all your buyers. Unfortunately, we will need to request some additional information before reinstating your account. We have outlined the requirements below:

Please also allow us to explain what information we still need:

- A readable copy of your driver's license, front *and* back, or other government-issued ID.

- A copy of a recent credit card statement, bank statement, or utility bill. Your name and billing address should be visible, and consistent with the information registered to your eBay account.

- Documentation that shows that you purchased the item(s) recently listed for sale on eBay. Documentation that will help us verify your items can include either manufacture invoices or receipts. Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept photos of the items to fulfill this requirement. (NOTE: This documentation must show your suppliers' information, items purchased, quantity purchased, price per unit and your payment information.)

- A copy of your business registration or other business information (Articles of Incorporation, Operating Agreement, EIN Issuance letter, etc.) verifying a valid registered business.

We appreciate you taking the time and effort to compile this information. Please upload the above requested information to the following link below:

https://i deleted the actual link for obvious reasons

1. Click on the above link and sign in using your eBay user ID and password.

2. Click ‘Continue’

3. Select the documents needing to be uploaded by clicking ‘Browse’. Once they are selected, choose the Document Type from the drop down list.

4. Select send and wait for the confirmation to appear to ensure your documents have been submitted for review

-- Note --

- It may take up to 3 business days to review your information.

We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter as quickly as possible and look forward to receiving your documentation.

This is absolutely absurd.  I have sold on eBay and received tax statements from selling on here for as long as I can remember, but suddenly they're asking for my supplier's information?  They never asked for it when I sold $400k on eBay in a year, but now they need it because I had a couple of days with increased volume?  And of course I supplied it because what are you going to do?  This is eBay's world and you better comply or they'll restrict your account and hold your funds for no good reason.  So just beware that you can play by the rules and have a near perfect track record with eBay but none of it matters.  They can and will restrict your account for no good reason.  I honestly never thought anything like this would happen on eBay unless I was trying to scam buyers or maybe selling restricted items or whatever, but it has.  Instead of simply placing a hold on my funds which would be absolutely understood given the sudden increase in volume, they have lied and are now forcing me to jump through hoops to even keep my account open.  It is the most bizarre thing I have seen in my 12 years of selling here.

Re: Here's a good one for account restricted

They audited me for selling 4 things total ever. deleted all 46 of my listings

demanded proof of purchase for every listing.  Some were gifts.

I never bought things planning to sell, or got them at yard sales. I have few receipts. just selling my old stuff  from my  house.

I completed grueling cruel full, detailed audit of all items.  Then had to shrink it down to 999 characters including spaces. 😞

They will probably never pay me my $15 or open my account? Thanks. I spent the evening crying.

I have no idea why they are doing it.  I've only ever sold 4 small low priced things. No problems fast shipping happy customers.

What Ebay?  What?

Re: Here's a good one for account restricted

They also asked me for that ID stuff too and I provided it. The part I think when they ask people for receipt is really ridiculous. Many are selling vintage or hard to find. Some of items bought like 20 years ago. Huh?? I also think that it is none of their business too, I could easily list over 8000 items but choose not to because of these invasive methods.  The fees is actually quite high and we pay fees on top of the tax collected which is quite questionable to me.  I asked DA office about this and they considered it questionable but will not do anything.  It is like self sabotaging concept in ebay to me seems. THey will hold your funds calling it questionable yet at the same time collect the fees from the so called questionable funding you receive in their views.

We are in a time of big changes so all these things will go.  I for most part just let things go now for I know it is just a matter of time.  Do not let it get to you. Just do ur best to maneuver through it and keep being happy. Do not get triggered by this matrix .
