Ebay holds on to your payments for 2 weeks before you receive????

Wow.  I haven't sold on eBay for a while and the "new policy" of eBay holding on to your payments for up to 2 weeks seems to border on fraudulent to me. The  Buyer pays but the money "sits somewhere" (probably in an eBay bank account) for 2-3 weeks??? Just sold 2 items which are boxed and ready to ship but I am supposed to wait until Dec. 6 for the money to come to me??!!  Not the eBay I remember.

with your zero feedback, obviously you work for ebay, do they pay you to insult the sellers?  this comment is for you and all the others like you obviously coming from a lowly ebay employee with an attitude.

You're exactly right.  It would be different if you'd never sold on ebay or had a terrible transaction record.  We all feel your pain. I was just about to get into large volume ebay sales again but definitely second thoughts. will end all my new auctions until I see how this first sale pans out after I shipped and being told I need to wait for two weeks to be paid.  Not a word mentioned about holds oil after 1st new sale in fact reading new policy said payouts in 2-3 days. Its in writing .

Re: Ebay holds on to your payments for 2 weeks before you receive????

I am a new seller, since April 2022 and have 8 sales. I have to wait about 2 weeks to get paid when someone buys, and it sucks.

When will I start getting paid in 1 day? How many sales do I have to have? What's the rules with a new seller to get payouts right away... I'm starving over here!!!

@couturepetapparel

You won't get paid in "1 day".

Perhaps the links in post #8 will answer your questions.

@couturepetapparel

post # 8 is either up, or down from your post here in this thread. Up or down depends upon how you set up to read posts.

Post # 13 may also help.

In addition to posting questions here on the community boards where other sellers/buyers will attempt to assist you there is also "help & contact" located at the top or bottom of most pages. The answers that you get here often exceed what you will get from "customer service".

Using "help & contact" will link you to eBay policy pages for answers to many questions.

Re: Ebay holds on to your payments for 2 weeks before you receive????

Ever notice when someone disagrees you're accused of being an eBay employee? Not just any employee but a lowly  one? OUCH. Points for the extra dig.

And then they know more than you because they have more feedback than you or they've been on eBay longer than you.  If they know so dang much then why don't  they know about posting IDs? If they're so smart and have all the answers then why are they here?

Wow, let's not let a stupid thing like the truth be an issue.

Shouldn't you know who is processing your money and what their rules are?

Experiencing the exaaact same thing right now. And you couldn't be more accurate to call this Fraudulent, because it certainly is. What a total fukkkking scam. The decision makers at this company must have their heads so far up their own azzes to not recognize they're driving away business. I personally will never sell another item on EBAY.

This is nonsense. PayPal never gave anyone a "free little advance loan". PayPal simply pays out in a timely manner, rather than holding on to your money for nonsense reasons without any warning.

Re: Ebay holds on to your payments for 2 weeks before you receive????

It's incredible that eBay is doing this to 15+ year sellers with thousands of dollars in sales. More incredible still that they have the gall to claim this is to ensure "your buyers are getting a great experience". As if, should a long-time seller up and disappear, eBay isn't going to cover refunds for their outstanding purchases.

If eBay were operating in good faith, they would — at the very least — notify you upfront when listing an item, that you're considered a new seller and your payments will be on hold for X days. As a long-time but sporadic seller, why would I expect that I would suddenly face payment holds, which could potentially extend indefinitely if eBay decides that they need to perform any additional verification on my account? This certainly hasn't been how anything worked in the past. And, with one surprise already out of the way, who knows how many more are in store?

This is 100% eBay mitigating its own risks, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the buyer's experience. Since, obviously, I use eBay only sporadically, I now have to consider whether it's even worth shipping my now outstanding orders, or whether I should just refund them and close my account for good. How's that for a "great" buyer's experience?

Apparently it's now too much to ask that I, as a seller, am even allowed to view my buyer's feedback history. At least one of my buyers didn't even use a real name in their shipping address, so who knows what's going to happen if I actually ship? eBay has certainly made it abundantly clear who's side they're going to fall on if there's a problem.
