Charged more than twice what I was expected

Admittedly I didnt pay as much attention as I should during the payment / checkout step.

Now that my credit card statement has arrived, I notice an item is significantly more expensive than expected.

When I check the listing on ebay, it still doesnt add up.

The details are:

Product: 9.99
Shipping: 10.00

Charged: 49.16

There is no details about how the final charge amount is arrived at.

Can anyone clarify or suggest how might have happened?

Is there VAT in there somewhere? But, to be able to give you a definitive answer, we would really need the item number.

Hi Did you look at your actual order details (from your purchase history) or just on the listing. Your order details from your purchase history page should have a breakdown of the amount you were charged including taxes.  To find it go to your purchase history page and in the more actions drop down list,for the item, click on view order details. This will open the order to see the charges.

You are in registered in Denmark and the item was shipped from the UK, you likely had to pay VAT.

Thanks, yes I did look at the order details. That was the first thing I looked at.

And it still doesnt add up. Even with taxes its still more than 100% more than expected.

And the breakdown of costs does not add up.

Can you post a screenshot of your order details, like this one? It's okay if you'd rather not, but it might help point to the issue . . . remember to remove your email address if it appears on there.

Since I'm in the US, I'm not familiar with exactly where VAT would appear on your order details. Is there an indication anywhere of what VAT equals?

It looks like I was way overcharged for the shipping.
