After thinking I was all set for MP, eBay ended my listings a few weeks ago because my bank account wasn't verified. That was a gut punch but turned out to be easier to fix than I thought. So, I opened a new account. Thinking, "nice clean slate, easy link up, and drive on." NOPE! Several attempts have failed at getting the microdeposits to my bank. The last rep I chatted with recommends that I open a new account (a different organization maybe??) This should not be necessary at all. I have spent a lot of time searching and reviewing threads related to this. I try to find current threads so I can get an idea of how many people are having similar problems. There have been 3 that the original post was early in 2021 but responses late in the year but, a moderator has ended responses to the thread based on the age. That makes it difficult to easily get an idea of how many sellers are still having problems like this. It seems that many people have the same or very similar issues but, with so many eBay users, I wonder if the percentage of those of us having problems is not large enough to be of any consequence. We may be "acceptable losses" as far as eBay is concerned. As for me, and as for now, I have been and will continue to ship products to customers that have paid. That is fine for me but not for all sellers. I guess I have faith that it will get resolved eventually and, since the type of product I sell may be mission critical to my buyers, it seems to be the correct path for now. I have money in limbo as of this writing and, for the 5th time, I will contact eBay and attempt a resolution after I post this. I am posting this to get responses from others who are still having problems with getting their bank verified or similar issues. By the way, I have had two payouts to this new account completed already.

I don't even know what to say to you that would express my appreciation appropriately. As it turned out, it WAS the exact same issue. In all of my years of providing account number info, the numbers just to the right of the colon (that actually denote check number) have never been required. Apparently, the system eBay has in place does require them. In my case it was a total of ten digits rather than the seven. Thank you from the essence of my being. Weeks and weeks of frustration, aggravation and no payouts have just been fixed because you took the time to share that information. I wish you the best of success with eBay or anything else you do. You surely deserve it as far as I am concerned.

Thanks to everyone who commented on this. As you can see, the solution was posted. I wonder how many others with bank verification issues are making the same mistake; not entering the full account number. As I stated in response to oksvanO, I have never had to provide the numbers just to the right of the colon when providing an account number. In fact, in the days of check writing, those numbers change with each check since they denote the check number. So, I guess it all came down to my ignorance of the necessary data but, since I don't seem to be the only one, it would maybe be a good idea for eBay to send a memo to CS suggesting their agents ask how many numbers are being entered. Thanks again everyone 🙂

I'm with you. I have never had to do that either, but am certainly glad you were able to get this fixed.
Others have been able to add zero's to the beginning of the number and it gets verified. I have no idea why Ebay's system requires this and I further don't understand why the CSRs can't, won't or aren't informed enough to share this with sellers when they call in with this problem.

You are most welcome! Glad the issue was resolved 🙂

My theory as to why it is required now is that actual check writing/check books are, especially for younger folks, a thing of the past. Once they open a checking account, all of their transactions will be made electronically. There would never be an opportunity for them to see that the number changes with each check. I think it is safe to assume that it is the more youthful generation whom are writing programs/creating software. They would see a 10 digit number on an example and write that in, making it a requirement to satisfy the field. I'm probably wrong but that is what came to mind. As far as why the CSRs don't seem to have that information, the same reason could apply. They wouldn't know intuitively and since PM is really still in infant stage, it hasn't occurred to eBay to include that in the training. Oh, and about having already received payouts: two different programs, I guess. One written by someone who knows what an account number looks like, the other by someone who doesn't. Again, this is all probably pure nonsense so don't quote me lol.

IDK, my kids are in their early and mid 20's. They have checking accounts. To have a checking account does not mean you need to write a paper check. MP has absolutely NOTHING to do with writing a check or not writing a check, it is the type of account.
I honestly don't know what you are getting at. Young people have checking accounts. It is how they get their paychecks electronically deposited from their employers. It has to be a checking account. Way too many people are dependent on their Debit Cards. To have a Debit Card, you have to have a checking account in which it is attached to.
Youth has nothing to do with how many digits are needed or required for the MP system. That doesn't even seem possible because of what I said above.

Disregard any reference to youth and check writing, as that was just something I was thinking. In a nutshell: an example of my account info is: XXXXXXXXX: YYY ZZZZZZZ with X being routing, Y being the check number, and Z being the account number. Though I have never before been required to include Y, it had to be included to get my bank to accept the micro-deposits. The whole fiasco was likely due to my ignorance of what was required by either eBay or my bank.

I agree and I stated that earlier in the thread, however on my checking account the check number trails the account number.
Let's be clear, MP does NOT REQUIRE the check number. NO ONE has said that. What they have said was that a 7 digit account number simply does not work in the MP system for whatever reason there is. Some have added their check number trailing the account number and others have simply added zeros in front of the account number. There have been reports of both working.
Ebay is complying with what the banking system requires along with complying with FEDERAL laws.

I’m having precisely the same issues! It’s frustrating. The bank account I had linked before but had to unlink it because I was having financial issues and needed to lock it down. Now I try to put it back and eBay can’t verify it all of a sudden?. Welcome to the acceptable loss club….

What Bank are you trying to attach to your MP account?

Thank you for writing this post. I have been attempting to change my bank account but keep getting the same error reading and cannot proceed. I do not understand a behemoth like eBay cannot give direct help. Meanwhile I will continue trying.

@deedub445 I'll ask you the same question that I asked @themystical.one . What bank are you trying to attach to your account??

Bank of America. And, apparently I am no longer able to use the previous bank now. Axos Bank.

Bank of America is an accepted bank. I personally use that bank. I'm not familiar with AXOS.
Let me see if I can get more info on this.

It’s my credit union WSECU which I already had attached to the account for almost a year prior to this.
