I started experiencing the same thing this week. I used paypal pay in 4 many times or could split payment. Now just goes out of debit card without a choice. I hope this is changed back soon.

Same here. It literally just happened to me. Luckily I was able to cancel it right away…

I have been having the same problem. My Paypal is set to use a credit card as the preferred payment method, but recently eBay has been automatically hitting the no-frills online checking account I also have linked to my Paypal. I deliberately keep a low balance there, so eBay has gotten me overdrawn REPEATEDLY. I have triple checked, and the CC *IS* set as the preferred payment method, and all the info is current.
"OK, I've found a workaround.
In my Paypal account, I changed my preferred funding source to "Paypal balance". But my Paypal balance is always zero, so eBay now prompts me with a Paypal pop-up asking me to select one of my other funding sources."
Thanks to this poster for the tip. I just went and made this same change in my Paypal account. I keep a zero balance in THAT, so hopefully this will force eBay's broken payment system into complying with how I choose to pay.
This needs to be FIXED.

Hello,
Thank you this was so very helpful. I just switched my PayPal wallet to use PayPal Balance (which is always "0" for me also). I accidentally (IDK how) chose the regular PayPal instead of PayPal Credit and the funds came out of my checking account; which I wasn't expecting at all!!!!!! Not a good thing so close to the end of the month. Luckily, there was enough funds there, but I was really upset because I've never chosen just regular PayPal, I always choose PayPal Credit on amounts over $100 so I can have more time to pay. I also contacted both of the sellers that I really needed to switch to PayPal Credit and they stated they were willing to help me, but didn't know how to do it. That is where I really ran into the issue of finding information to help fix the problem. One item had already shipped when I realized what happened and so it looks like I may be out of luck there. Do you know if there is any option to fix this once the item has shipped?? The seller was willing to help, but the option to cancel the order has passed. The other seller had not shipped out yet, so hopefully we can get that transaction straightened out.
I also would like to throw out there--I tried calling PayPal and never was able to reach a real person. I also had a request put in for them to call me and I never received a call, but I immediately got an email stating that they had tried to call me and it was unsuccessful b/c I didn't answer or it didn't go through or it went to voicemail. ALL of that was incorrect, I never received a call and I checked all my phone settings and there was nothing that would block their call. Hello eBay, wake up it's very frustrating trying to find a solution when there are no "real" people to talk to!!!!!!!
