Can’t seem to use American Express even when paying with PayPal

Recently my payments for purchases when using PayPal have not been charged to my preferred payment method which is American Express when buying on eBay. When buying from other sites American Express is being charged. Has anyone else noticed this?

Are you specifically choosing your AmEx card in your PayPal wallet when checking out on eBay? Different sites can have different default payment methods specified.

If you mean that when you check out of eBay and select PayPal, you are not able to choose a specific payment method in your PayPal wallet but one is automatically selected for you, in that case go to your eBay Payments page in your eBay account and delete the entry for PayPal that appears there.

The next time you check out on eBay and choose PayPal, you should be sent to your PayPal wallet page and given a chance to pick a specific payment method.

Thanks for that response eburtonlab.  Actually what was happening was that I had to set up an automatic payment for bidding, offers, and buy it now listings on eBay. I chose PayPal. At the time I did this American Express was not my default  credit card on PayPal another card was. Even after I changed my default credit card on PayPal to American Express, apparently EBay purchases continue to be charged to the card that was the default payment at the time the automatic payment was set up. This can be changed using the PayPal site.  Thanks to PayPal customer service for explaining this to me.
