Can't link bank account for payouts

I spent nearly all day yesterday, (05/02/22), on the phone and chatting online with multiple eBay personnel in various departments and none of them could find a reason why it won't connect or even really help me get my bank account to link to my seller account so I could be paid. I'm using a Chime Checking account just to be specific. Every single time I try to link the account it will give me an error mage saying that "We ran into a problem. Please try again later" and it has been doing this for a week or better now. Can anyone out there help me with this, I'd really like to get paid for the items I sell. You would think someone on their end could go in and manually force the system to connect my account. I don't know what to do

You need a checking account through a real bank.

Did you try using checking  account through real bank?

I’m also having the same exact problem I couldn’t link my chime to payouts

Others have reported before that Chime accts do not work with e-Bay managed payments.

Several posters have reported using a green dot card account in lieu of a formal bank acct and that working as an alternative.

We use Chase with zero issues.

I talked to ebay, They said it was a glitch on their end. Pretty much just told me to wait until they get it fixed. I asked ebay if chime or greendot should work they told me it should, I don't see why it wouldn't it's on their list of banks. I also set up a "real" checking account with a branch near me it doesn't work either. So I don't think that's the problem.  I think the website is just glitching out.  I have a friend who is having the same problem.

As my friend @katzrul15 stated, you can apply for a Walmart Green Dot card and it serves as a bank with an account and routing number.  I have used mine for years with no issues.  Here's the link, you can order one online:

I also have been having this issue, tried varo, chime, and capital one. It is an issue on ebays end according to what they had to say after I called them for around an hour still waiting for a fix haven't been able to link my bank account in around a week now.

I got it to add a bank finally! You have to add it where it says update account details or it wont work. Chime didn't work I don't know if ebay has a problem with chime or if the chime website is just down right now. But I used a real bank, I found one with free checking and you can apply online. Also I changed my phone to "desktop" site not sure if that matters or not.  Give it a try. Goodluck.

I have also been attempting to link a checking account for several days now. I opened up another checking account,  have same problem. Ebay has to have one of the worst and most inept customer service out there. They used to be really good. Nobody seems to have an answer for this and ebay just doesn't care.

I have had repeated problems with linking my checking account. I started with Twitter support after I received an error message (and that I needed to try again later). Twitter referred me to the eBay chat option for help with the error I was getting. Again, this was for trying to add a checking account to eBay payment (for selling).

I reached out to the chat support person, and they said to make sure my name, etc. from my bank matched my eBay account, and that my checking account could do debit withdrawals, and then wait 24 hours. I did this, I logged back-in and the same thing happened. My account was recognized, and when I went to click "add," and it said there was an error and that I should try again later.

So, back to chat support. I let them know I did all the things they told me to do, and I still received the message. The second chat person told me not to worry as the problem was due to a security block on my account from too many attempts. They very confidently said that I would be able to add the checking account as long I waited 48 hours before trying to add it again. I did that, and of course, I still get the error message.

Losing patience, I go to the chat option again (a third time) explaining the long-road I've been down, and this person said they were sorry, but not to worry, they will help me.

In the end, after explaining all things I've tried: selecting my bank, manually adding it, trying on different days, using different internet browsers, waiting all the periods of time I was told to wait, they took my routing number for both an online checking account and for a regular checking account (as neither works).  They said they would escalate my issue to someone else, and that I needed to wait 72 hours.

I asked what would happen after 72 hours, and they said that I should try to add my account again, and if it doesn't work to return to the chat feature.

Unhappy with the news that I again need to wait for multiple days, I went in search of this community. I hate that we are all experiencing the same runaround and disappointment. 

My understanding from other comments is that this is an issue on eBay's end, and that until they fix it, no amount of waiting or attempts on my end is going to get my checking account added.

I tried chime and varo. It denies it right away. Bit if I hit PNC it goes right through

These guys are awful.  I have the same issue.  First sale in 5 years and a terrible experience.  Can't wait to get paid, then close my account forever.

First time seller in 8 years and i have sold 6 items and money is on hold and cannot at a bank account. Very frustrating to start
