I keep running into the "Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later" error when trying to add my bank account. When I use bank login it recognizes and confirms the account just fine, and lets me get all the way to the screen where you select whether it's preferred for selling costs, but when I click the final "Add" it gives me the error. Here's what I've done:
Checked that all my user details (name, address, email, phone number) between bank and ebay are the same,
Checked my routing/account numbers,
Tried both manual entry and bank login,
Tried with 2 separate checking accounts (Schwab and Discover),
Tried on mobile with the app, with Safari, as well as on a desktop using Chrome,
Logged out and logged in again and cleared my cache,
Am using a street address, not a PO box,
Contacted support, who didn't have much to add
It DOES let me add a credit card which, clearly, isn't useful.
Any other suggestions?

be able to fix “LIKE THAT” and all i get is the run around. I can’t believe that such. High profile long standing international selling platform like ebay who make their money on the back of its users is so lack luster in its attempt to assist it’s selling community. I’m just trying to get rid of an old bank account that is now CLOSED and replace it with my NEW banking information and I am unable to do so or get the help I need. Never have I ever had to deal with a company that’s so bad at customer service and has no solution to a problem and simply wont fix it. Its because eBay knows their “too big to fail” I hate that for me to be able to sell on ebay again will require me to delete my current profile with all my feedback ratings that allow for quick payment and instead start from scratch. I truly with there was something that the selling community could do to make eBay feel hurt for the way it treats its customers
Have you tried clearing the field completely [don't over write anything] then enter you new routing number. Do the same when you got to enter your checking account number. Clear the field completely, then type in your new number. For some this has helped.
It has also helped if you do get someone from Ebay on the phone, have them clear the fields completely and then let you put in the new numbers.
Both of these have helped some sellers. If one doesn't work that does NOT mean the other won't. Give them both a try.

Same issue here...the amazing thing to me is that their customer service solution is set up purposely to be unable to resolve any issues related to getting you paid your money. The only "tech team" with the power to do anything can't be reached by phone even by their own agents. The agents have to put in a ticket which takes them 3 days to receive and then they start with give us a few days to look into your issue.
Customer service?....haha thats funny.

I was having this problem when entering my account number, as well. I then entered the MICR Number in place of my account number (it's your account number with some extra numbers in front of it, I assume based on your bank). Once entering that, everything worked fine and allowed me to add the account.
You may want to try that. Good luck.

Hi,
I know it's a few months since you posted your comment, but did you get it resolved? I'm desperate to start selling again as we had a break for a while. The something went wrong msg is driving me nuts. It's been going on for two weeks now, had several chats with eBay and they don't know the answer and I've tried desktop, mobile, iPad, different browsers without success. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
regards
patricia

Schwab and Discover
Isn't Schwab an investment or business account, which might not be usable for payouts?
Didn't know Discover had checking?
Not all types of checking account land or E based can be used for payouts such as some Credit Unions. Could be the stumbling block you are running into and will need to open a general consumer-based account.

That worked!! Thank you SO much!!!
Because I have an e-checking account with my credit union, I don't have paper checks. I called them and asked if they could tell me what my MICR number is, and at first they didn't know what I was talking about.. I even told them why I needed it, and that I was trying to get eBay to accept my checking account info.. And finally they asked a manager and they came back and told me that it might be what they called my "extended account number".. which in my particular CU's case, was a 9 followed by four zeros in front of my normal account number.. So I added it and my routing number, and IT WORKED!

Not all the issues are the same or have the same answers. What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

I know this is an old topic but, after creating a new account to sell alternative items, I came across the same issue. With a little trial and error, I found the fix:
Go to Site Map (https://pages.ebay.com/sitemap.html). Scroll down to "My Selling Account" then click on "Choose Automatic Payment Method". If you are just starting out, it will prompt you to set up your seller account. You then go through the steps to do that.
Why this is such a secretive method is beyond me...kind of. eBay has become so massive that it loses itself in complexity. They keep fixing things that aren't broken.

What do we do to get our payment? I can’t add a bank account when will this be fixed?

I can’t add my bank information either! How on earth are we supposed to get a payment when customer service doesn’t even know when the problem will be fixed and they plan on restricting my account in a month when it’s their fault I can’t add my bank info on their website please let me know if they resolved this for you and how long it took?

Ok everyone. So, I managed to fix this issue. What I did was change my account from personal to business. It then allowed me to add my bank account with no issues.

Man. I tried ALL of these things while on the phone with eBay with no luck, I'm also with a credit union. This is so disheartening, I posted several collectibles that already have bids to help pay for our Disney trip, this HAS to get fixed!
