I have a buyer that bought a item and I have been waiting 5 days for payment so I emailed her and after that I looked at my sold page and it was now marked pending. I emailed her again and apologize and then I went to Paypal and there is no record of a payment. When she emailed me back she said she couldn't figure it out either but she could not cancel the order. I then tried and got a Message that I needed to wait a few minutes (**bleep**) and I hav plenty of time to cancel . I then went to help and tried that way and next message was this item had be canceled ., but it doesn't show up in my canceled orders , pending cancel, or anywhere else.
Any thoughts what I should do? I emailed the buyer and told her try to work thru Paypal to see if she could cancel from there.

Sometimes it will say "Pending" in PayPal if an e-check is used for payment, or if the buyer's personal email differs from that which is registered with PayPal and/or eBay. I had a couple buyers in the past who had changed their email addresses and had forgot to revise it with PayPal and/or eBay and it showed "Pending" in PayPal. That was a few years ago, though.

You receive payments via Paypal, not Managed Payments.
Therefore, any payment initiated by a buyer should show a transaction in your Paypal account, regardless of how the buyer funded it.
If no payment transaction appears in your Paypal account, you may have a payment email address problem.
Go to the listing & use the Sell Similar function.
Scroll down to the payment section & check the payment email address that appears there.
Is it EXACTLY the same as the email address that you use for your Paypal account?

It may be e-check like wrong66 mentioned.
I used to meet this case with e-check.
In my case, I could cancel as my selling policy because the payment was not cleared over 24 hours.
After I canceled it, the payment was cleared (maybe about 2-3 days. It's charged in buyer's bank account)
So, you should notice the buyer about the refund duration.
My buyer gave me bad rating because he didn't see his refund.
(He didn't know well about Paypal refund. He didn't care about my explanation at all)
It can take few days to go back into buyer's account.
The best method: notice buyer by message and call Paypal supporting.
They will do it quicker. Don't have to find out a problem if it's in eBay or Paypal system.

thanks for the help. this one listing does have an email address that i haven't used in 10 years and they have me marked as managed payments which i am not in . i am on hold but hopefully it will be fixed soon. it still does not explain why nothing is showing on her paypal account.

All of this has been done through eBay, and not through your email??
If no payment is showing on PayPal go to your my eBay at top of page. Click on payments and see if it shows on that page or links in that page.

Finally got it figured out Somehow on only one listing ebay had thrown my 10 year old email on it so the payment was just hidden and hanging out in no where land . It was not showing up in paypal because paypal was trying to link it with that old email address. Also another weird thing was if I tried to cancel it told me the item had already be canceled or removed which the CS couldn't figure out either So the only way to fix the problem was to start an unpaid case and let it ride out. In the middle the buyer was getting upset and told me I better return her money - which I didn't have- but since I emailed her several times telling her what I was finding out she is good waiting for her money till friday but I have lost a sale. She is not supposed to get a defect but we will see and I told her to check and make sure. What a mess I went through the listings that were made at the same time and they are ok but I will have to see if it reverts when something is sold
