I just started selling my stuffs on Ebay not long ago so I'm almost a new seller here asking for guidance/advice if anyone could help.
3 months ago I sold a $800 item (I dont usually sell high price item, only 1-2 times) to a buyer with around 35 feedbacks. I sent out an email explaining Usps would be delayed due to them being shoft-staffed as I usually do before sending out my package. No response from buyer. 2 weeks later, package was not delivered due to buyer not present and it was held at the post office for another 2 weeks (I kept checking the tracking as well as sending emails to make sure everything is alright, even called to make sure package would be delivered in a timely manner). Buyer went silent and I saw tracking updated to "package redelivery scheduled - buyer requested" or something like that. I did not see the final scan as "delivery" but I have not heard from buyer after that so I assumed it was delivered. (Happened to a lot of my packages shipped by USPS that did not have final scans but my buyers still left me feedbacks so I know they were all delivered). I also sent out another messages asking if they did receive the package. No reply from the buyer again.
A few days ago, 3 months after the sale, I got an email saying buyer opened a dispute with his bank saying he did not recognize that transaction. I went back and double check, the name on file is his name, not sure about the address but the address was on Ebay so I assumed it should be the correct one.
I already uploaded the tracking image with his name and address that I sent the package to. Howevever I'm super worried about the package did not have the "delivered" scan. I don't know what else I could do in this case? I chatted with an Ebay rep but they said it would take 3 months. If I lose the case; what should I do to apeal it? I'm thinking to file a police report where the buyer lives just in case. Any ideas what I can do?
Thank you all for taking time reading through my post!

So if the item did not have a delivery scan, and signature confirmation (it is an 800 dollar item so it needs to have that) then you're in a bit of trouble. Perhaps contact the post and have them send back the item and you refund the buyer? That way you get your item, the buyer gets his money and everyone is happy

I have already contacted the post office when I saw the tracking a few months ago and they said it was "handled" and they did not have the package anymore. That's why I assumed the package was delivered. I wonder why the buyer did not opened the "item was not received" dispute instead of "unauthorized transaction".
I will call the post office tomorrow again to see if they have any trace, since I did 3 months ago. I also filed for missing mail search request just to get them to mark it as "delivered" but they did not even contact me 😞

Ebay is supposed to protect sellers under such circumstances, provided that you followed their rules including the use of Signature Confirmation (because the sale amount was $750-plus).
Call Ebay. You will need to scroll down each page to find the right info, starting with "Help & Contact > Contact Us" at the bottom of this page.
