Can anyone tell me if this notice I am getting from EBay “You need to update your account details on file in order to avoid any issues with payouts in the future. Then it gives me link to login to my bank account. I don’t like that at all and It makes me nervous. Is this all legit and normal for EBay account verification? They have already made previous deposits to my account, so not sure what they need this for.

Yes; quite common as long as that message came through ebay messaging. Apparently they don't 'keep' or 'record' your log in password, but when you give it, it links them 1 time to see the account info and that it belongs to the same name/address etc. as the member listed on ebay.

What???? I sell for 15 accounts. Never, ever had to give eBay my bank account password. There is no way that by giving ANYONE your password that they can be limited to one time use or not simply drain your account. EBay does not need your password to do the matching process.

So change your password after everything has been taken care of, which should be done every so often any way.

1.) don't shoot the messenger
2.) Many have posted about having to do this
3.) Yes, there is a reason- one time use and then change it if you're paranoid.
4.) Yes, ebay does need it or they wouldn't have asked. Some months later have to send 'picture id', some 'bank confirmations' from either this way or 2 deposits, or copies of bank statement or or or....
Been there, all of it, and done that.
5.) If the OP listens to you and does NOT cooperate, they will NOT be able to list, or sell or collect $ if items are already listed/paid for.

Many have posted this erroneously. I worked in the financial institution industry for 40 years. No idea how many people came into the bank saying they had given their passwords out and their accounts were empty. They wanted help. There is none to give. For anyone to give out their password gives the receiver access inside their account. It can not be limited to one time access and a good program can clear out the account before you can change your password. This is on the list of one of the ways seniors get defrauded most often. EBay has other means to verify your account without getting inside access and they don't need this one. The OP should contact them directly.
