Help

We're new to selling on eBay and trying to learn the dos and don't of selling on eBay. I'm selling a Bronze Buffalo sculpture 1991 by Scriver from Great Falls, Montana, and adding it to eBay appears as an auction. We don't want to auction it. We want to sell it out right to someone. Also, we have several other animal bronzes on here to sell.

On another note, do we need to reply with a rejection NO when we get an offer way below our asking price? Because that's what has happened, and I tried to reject it. However, it doesn't allow me to. What do I do now?

Please help us, new and confused sellers on eBay.

Thanks!

Re: Help

I completely ignore ALL lowball offers especially the insulting ones like 90% off the price.  If the buyer is a real pain, I block them. If you don't want to auction an item , use buy it now. You can set the best offer to reject everything below a certain price. You decide what the price is.

Re: Help

Look carefully again  -- the bronze buffalo sculpture at 25K is NOT listed as an auction, but as BIN (buy it now).  Other sculptures ARE listed as auctions.

No need to actually respond to an offer.  Here are your choices:  accept, counter, respond, ignore.  Also you can set your requirements so that any offer below a certain level is rejected automatically.

Go on YouTube and search "how to start selling with eBay" a video guide will probably be beneficial for you to watch.

Re: Help

For a new seller, coming to the boards is a great place for help or advice.

I took a quick look at your listings.

Read up on how auctions work.

You should never be "stuck" selling something for less than you want if your listings are set up correctly.

I have been selling on ebay for over 20 years.

I would never sell anything worth much over $100.

Anyone can rip you off simply by making a false claim.

I could buy that $25,000 statue you are selling and say you sent me a box of rocks and I would get a refund.

Also, If I were to buy that desk from you, you would be obligated to ship it to me for $120.

Work on your shipping limitations, both price and destination.

Re: Help

@evjones2012  This is a rundown on best offer and how to use it.  As said above, you can set an amount on your best offers below which you won't go - it gets rid of the low ballers and tire kickers.

Re: Help

PLEASE spend a little quality time learning the basics before you "give away" your valued collectibles.....

everything you asked is ebay 101, and we can help, but you need to know the basics....

is that the same buffalo listed twice?

125 (bid at auction) and Buy it Now or 25K?

END that Home Desk Now before there is a bid

the shipping will kill you

Re: Help

I would NOT advocate selling a $25,000 statue (or anything remotely near that price) on here as a new seller, or really at all - that's something you might want to have handled through a reputable auction house.

Re: Help

Also, BTW, are you sure you want to pack and ship a desk? Why not local pickup? When an item is damaged in shipping and buyer wants to return it, are you aware that the seller pays return shipping?

And, regarding that buffalo, if I were thinking about purchasing it, I would want to know exactly how large it is -- "medium" isn't much of a size description in this case.

Re: Help

@evjones2012

You have 2 listings for "buffalo".

1 auction, 1 fixed price

Do you have 2 to sell?

The "auction" listing is showing 6 different items in the photos.

Re: Help

How are you going to ship that desk USPS for $55?

Have a great day.

If you do not want to auction it then you have to click the button that says auction which will turn off the auction. After that click the button that says BIN and add your price. Make sure you always click the one that says accepts offer so it too will turn off. Lastly make sure you also click Immediate Payment Required. All 3 things need to be done to set it up correctly.

Re: Help

Good to hear.  So now you have taken down every listing except the 25K buffalo, which still states size as medium?

Not absolutely certain, but there may be a penalty for removing items that had bids (like the other (?) buffalo.

Re: Help

You should be given the choice to accept, reject or ignore any offers.

You  can when you next set up a Sell Your Item form, and decide to accept offers, you can set automatic acceptance at one price and automatic refusal at another. Those prices can be within one cent of each other.

For a ridiculous example.

You list at Fixed Price for $1000. You set Best Offer to reject any offer under $999.98 and to accept any offer at or over $999.99.

You never see any rejected offers, until an acceptable one comes from that customer.

The best part of Best Offer (besides that customer do like them) is that you can quickly vet the customer if his Offer is marginally acceptable.

Look at his Feedback Left for Others, since sellers cannot leave negative feedback.
