Hello, I really need to complain about a recent purchase I had o e-bay and I don't know where else to do it so here it is. First off, I've been an e-bay member for 14 years and I've bought thousands of motorcycle parts in that time. dozens of those sales involved vintage motorcycle gas tanks. This sale was for a very rare very limited production Honda MT125R race bike gas tank. I have searched for one for years and was so happy to buy this one. I tracked it for several days and then e-bay messaged me that, suddenly, this was now a restricted item and refunded the sale and further said the item wouldn't even be returned to the seller. So, there isn't even a chance to try another way of shipping it and this very rare vintage part is lost forever and of course e-bay is so sorry. Well, that's really swell. I cand ex-press how upset and disappointed I am about this. I may never find another part like this again! I spent hours on the phone with e-bay and when I finally got to talk to a live person, they basically blew me off, GREAT JOB e-bay!

It’s very unfortunate that you blasted a negative feedback for the seller while blaming eBay.
Hopefully the seller will know they can report the feedback and it will be removed.

Even based on your comment in the feedback, why do you believe the seller deserved it?!?!?

OK, I didn't blast the seller, he was very helpful, and he also got screwed in this deal. If you would read the message, I was only complaining about e-bay and their shipping. I was given no satisfaction when I talked to them, and I didn't find anywhere else to post a complaint so please excuse me. I have been on e-bay for many years, and very seldom complain, even when I have a bad deal like this. This is the first time, in those 14 years that I have posted here. I will still use e-bay and I would certainly buy from this seller again; He was very nice and understanding. Do you think I should just shut up and take it or do I get to have a voice in this?

once again, read the message, I was complaining about e-bay, not the seller!

@oldhondacafe But what you did in the FB ONLY affects this seller.
FB is for seller service and not eBay issues....
I too hope this seller gets the unjust FB removed.
The seller had zero choice in weather or not eBay decided the item could not be sent to you.
Just a guess that this was a sale going through EIS between different countries.
If that is the case, EIS follows the countries rules for items that can be sent there.

That’s if the seller hasn’t added you to their blocked bidder list.
He didn’t get skewered. He got the money you sent and eBay refunded you from their pocket.

If you collected something, say Bennie baby's and they canceled your order for a special and rare baby, wouldn't you be upset? would the refund be enough, and you should just forget that you had searched for years for that one particular item? Say "oh well. Once again, it's not about the seller, he was great. It's all about a crappy policy that neither he nor I have any control over.

I believe this to be a shipping problem not a eBay problem. My guess is that it was sent USPS. Gas tanks are a restricted item by USPS.
Not sure how they figured out it was a gas tank. If the seller didn't clean it well and someone in the postal service got a whiff of gasoline. That would do it.

If you posted a negative review on yelp that a hotel was lousy because the 'neighbor' was 'loud and smelly', do you really think you were only hurting that 'neighbor';
No, you were ONLY, 100%, hurting that hotel
If you posted a negative review on yelp about a mechanic shop because while you were in the parking lot, some 'other' customer 'hit your car' and they didn't have insurance, or they just 'took off'...
Were you posting a negative about the 'other driver'?
No, you were ONLY, 100% hurting that mechanic shop.
You CANNOT, SHOULD NOT, ding a seller because of a 'system' which is well known (can't ship "used gas tanks" via Fedex, UPS, USPS etc. as it is 'against the law' (hazmat).

The feedback system goes back to the mid 90s when eBay was formed. Some 30 years later, the feedback has become near worthless anyway. I say eliminate the feedback system and allow returns like Amazon.

I'm not sure whether you're still reading but in case you are, I have an answer to the question you didn't ask. 😀
The way to end a listing is to go to your seller hub and click on active listings. When you see the listing, click the edit box and in the dropdown, choose "end listing."

I can understand the frusturation. I have a 1984 Honda Sabre VF700 and my family loves honda's reliability. I found this and perhaps this would be a good subsitute to your item?
