Progress report #2

I locked the other thread. There is some good stuff in there that probably has been reposted in other threads. I'll check. In the meantime, here's another place to write. B-)

God Speed Lou. Sounds like a stent to me. If so, your leg will be sore. We're all pullin' for you. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

I am in the process of building four Boober Cabeese for my railroad. One is built. These fit on one disconnect logging truck and are really neat. Yes that's one two axle truck. I'll post pictures when all four are finished. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

No stent Pete, it was not blocked enough to even clear out. Go figure, but my Doctor will explain that to me Tuesday and give me a whole lot of do's and don'ts to follow. And just what I need more med's to take. And I also get to watch the mail for the BILLS that will follow all this, but do have insurance to cover most of them at least. Lou My question is what is not blocked enough? A partial blockage is not so good sounding either, but I'm no doctor. Move to Canada and then you won't have any medical bills.....just higher taxes. Re: Progress report #2

Blocked enough is 70 per cent or more. That is what I need my doctor to explain to me on Tuesday as to why and what percentage of blockage I do have at this time. The way things are going here I probably will have higher taxes and medical bills anyway our Congress decides to stick it to us. Lou

Re: Progress report #2

Dave You said a little while back that you have a GP60 you considered modifying to a GP60B, would you possibly be interested in selling it, I really want to do another GP60M, let me know or do you know where I can get one? ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

Barry Here is a link for two used gp60's. Missing weights but I'm sure a person could manufacture them. http://cgi.ebay.com/N-SCALE-2-LIFE-LIKE-ATSF-SANTA-FE-GP60-DIESEL-PARTS_W0QQitemZ200344113816QQcmdZV... Jack I do have a GP60 but I am keeping it to build a B unit. Sorry. I got mine thru an ebay auction. I looked at tht auction and the seller has a Cotton Belt GP60 as well. BUT.... The GP60 by lifelike, the metal 'weights' is actually the split frame (as you'd find on Atlas,Kato) so it isn't something you could make up. One could measure the length of the body and get an Atlas SD frame and install GP trucks , fuel tank position may need to be adjusted to get right dimension as on the GP. Re: Progress report #2

I checked the two Santa Fe engines before I posted here but alas the frames are missing, makes it a bit hard to build an engine when the most important parts are missing,I actually thought about an Atlas GP frame but then it would need all the hardware as well, again a very expensive project to consider, MBKleins has two, $60US each I don't really want to pay that much for one and then they want $48 for postage, I can get one sent to Bill but again with double post cost it is pretty dear to cut up, hopefully I WILL find one. It was worth a try Dave, I know plans change from time to time LOL ]:)

Barry I sent you an email ( several in fact). One had a picture of some Lifelike loco's. Hope you get them. don't know if you are interested in the loco's I don't have the info on them or apparently the original boxes. I obtained these over 8-10 years ago. I put three of the loco's on a dc track and they did run. the one motorized chassis didn't and the other chassis is of unknown origin but I think it too is a lifelike non motored version of the same locos pictured. Gene By the way they are all N Scale -- Edited by g-pa1 at 05/28/2009 9:17 AM PDT

Re: Progress report #2

There have been a couple times where I was tempted to buy the shell, trucks and bare frame and build up a non-running B unit, or cut he frame down and scratch build a shell to resemble a low-body slug. They would be powerless and add unnecessary weight to a train, but no extra cost for decoders,etc.. We'll see what comes out of my workshop in the next year.

Re: Progress report #2

Gene Thanks for the thoughts but alas they are wrong. Dave believe me the same thoughts went through my head, would have given me some good spares but I want a powered engine, I may end up sacrificing another runner I have for the cause, would still give me four Santa Fe engines I know but I do like the mix of Warbonnet and blue and yellow freight scheme running together, decisions, decisions. ]:)

Re: Progress report #2

At one time I was looking for broken L/L SW9 just to play around with them of making B units, etc but they were hard to find. Seem to be one engine that no one will part with. You can find a couple new ones but cost more than I wish to pay. I have 4 so I don't need another one bad enough to pay 50 bucks for. I was able to stockpile my four on the ones I was able to get under $35ish and probably all four were because of road names no one want...hich works for me as I end up stripping them anyways to custom paint for myself.

Re: Progress report #2

Dave I have a SW9 I think are they the little switchers that you see running Amtrak trains around terminals after the main power is removed, if so I really don't want it, it is in early Santa Fe blue and yellow stripe, it has MTL couplers too, I would willingly trade with you LOL ]:)
