Progress report #2

I locked the other thread. There is some good stuff in there that probably has been reposted in other threads. I'll check. In the meantime, here's another place to write. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

Raining today so I'll try to get most of the 40 windows into the hotel. It takes a while with the curtains that I am putting in also. You know how I like to have some open and some curtains blowing out too. This is what makes it fun. B-)

Just got my Mikado back from Kato and she's back to haulin freight. The side rods slipped off when I took off the traction driver. I got one side on but the other side is another matter. They cleaned it up put the rods back together and sent it back all for $20.00!I had forgotten just how sensitive the steamers are to get placed on the track. My diesels are not that touchy. Gene

Re: Progress report #2

You could have sent it to me for free Gene, just postage, and I would have preformed the same service. Next time you feel you need to change the traction tires, send everything to me. That's what I'm here for. B-)

Thanks for the offer Pete. I have successfully changed out the traction tire several times. I just got a little adventurous this last time and started fooling around with the loco innerds grabbed a little too hard on the rod area and popped one out. Fixed that one and in doing so popped the other side out which compleatly came off and my manual dexterity just couldn't get cordinated enough to replace it. I also was kind of hoping that they might put the handrails on as now I understand that they are already installed on the new ones from the factory. Some of the handrail holders are somewhere in the netherlands of my floor. The little sons of beaches! Gene

Re: Progress report #2

Anybody doing any work to their layout, etc????? I know Dot has house/yard projects. I'm into glue, I know Peter the Great is into glue also. Gene is breaking things, I mean improving the performance of his locos ;) CJ has important things on the go. Punk, are you still playing with those tether cars? Take some of that project money and buy some rolling stock ;) What happened to everyone else??? I know it is summer, just seems that this group has died. Sorry to say. I just miss the activity here. Aside from buddy at LHS, I don't have other friends to share this hobby with. Another month and I'm on my way to one (#2 actually) of the sh itholes of the world. Forward Airbase Khandahar, Afghanistan. (postcard not included)

Re: Progress report #2

Still gluing windows together for the hotel. Dot is now a Moderator. Just because. Received the replacement update chip for the NCE and it works just fine. Then I discovered that the latest update chip for one of the C-16s is faulty. Sent it back to BLI and am now waiting for a replacment. The old chip is in and the engine is running, but not all the features are available with this old chip. I'm still working on the railroad. B-)

Re: Progress report #2

Well I'm Home again and glad to be able to model (play) again, got the paint on the GTW hopper and painted the tarped load for the new M/T UP bulk head flat car, I know it has been around for a couple of months but as I said I only got home on Monday, the MRL flat car and the Milwaukee car for July were at the PO waiting for me and they are still not available here for about another month and a half, shame I have no one here to show them of to, Dave you said you have nobody close to model with, how does 500 Klms from the nearest person I know who plays with N scale and then I usually do all the work he wants done anyway, take care over there, I nearly had to go to vietnam, was called up and all but I was married with a child so they let me stay home, thankfully, I do know what it is you are facing I have two members of our family in the forces and both have been for a visit, I also lost a couple of very close friends during Vietnam and would have possibly been with them as we were all called up in the same induction, anyway I am back and modeling again. Re: Progress report #2

I got the couplers assembled and installed on the sd40-2. And also scratchbuilt the MU hoses and installed. They look pretty neat draped over the the snowplow. Working on what ever those levers are called that have the square shaped handles painted white (on BN locos) scratchbuilt those too.
