Just wondering if anyone else in our group is collecting the Microtrains State Cars and what they think of them. Dot

Prof, Was there any Tampa Bay Buccaneer cars? If so, I'll take one! The "cheap" DC car arrived last Thursday, I believe it was, now I am sitting back and watching the prices. After this collection is finished, it will be a consist of 18+ feet, I better think of expanding my layout plans.;) CJ

This is what I was talking about in the other group. High prices for a single car or engine. I have to shake my head. Nutz2u

Get ready to shake your head again, I just picked up another set of the state cars for $625, this included the DC car, the first engine, and all the cars up to Iowa. Now it will be one set to collect, and one set to run! CJ

So I pay big bucks for kits to build. We all have our weakness. Mine is wood. CJ's is plastic. Doug's is....just what is yours Doug? Marc's is the parrot. Dot's is brass. The Prof has no weakness. ;) CodFadda

Since this thread is about MicroTains I thought I'd seek help here. I want to buy an Atlas Reading EV caboose, but can only find it with Rapidos. I want to (eventually) convert everything to MT couplers. To that end I searched the MTL web-site and found conversion coupler (body mounted) #1111, HOWEVER I am having a HELLUVA time "sniffing them out"! They don't even seem to be available ON the MTL site itself! Any ideas? Marc

Marc, Use MT 1037 or 1033 trucks w/medium extended couplers. Or you can cut off the rapidos and use body mount, pre-assembled couplers #10151. Pete

Punk, I actually bought this set to resell. I am going to keep the engine for an A-B-A MU. The rest of the set should pay for itself, hopefully with a few beans left over for the yet to be released cars. CJ

Thanks Pete, I may have time to stop by the LHS today and see IF they have ANY of these. Mitchell's doesn't seem to have much in the way of "parts". Of the shops I frequent the one in Strasburg has the best MTL parts selection, but that's an hour round trip in the WRONG direction from my school! It's a Saturday thing now that school's back in. But certainly thanks for the info. Now you say 1033 trucks. Does that mean I just completely remove the body mount stuff and these trucks w/ couplers will work properly? That sounds like the simplest approach, if true. Marc

Marc, Pull the pin on the grenade, release the lever and count to twenty....... ;) Or you can pull the atlas bolster pin and remove the truck. Take the new MT bolster pin, there are two sizes so check your fit first, then insert it into the little round hole in the MT truck and into the hole in the bolster. Badda Boom, Badda Bing. Done.
