I have an A1416 Model no. 3rd generation iPad and my eBay app has expired but when I click on the update button it says the app is unavailable in the uk store. Has my iPad become too old to use the eBay app now? I use the app a lot on my iPad and don't often refer to the website.

I tried to download from the link provided but got the same message that I need iOS 10. 😡

The recent links you posted for the eBay app still don't work. I still get the error that iOS 10.0 is required. (iPad Gen 3)

Not allowing update, original format not accessible

Its because the new app takes in iOS 10 apple software and it won't work with earlier iOS versions (iOS 9 and below). As generation 1,2 and 3 iPads can't be updated to iOS 10, like me you've had it .........you can't use your iPad for eBay anymore.
Sure, you can go via Google etc, but what a slow and painful experience that is.
Hopefully eBay will see sense and have 2 apps for iPad: one for up to iOS 9 and one for iOS 10 and above. All they have to do is reinstate the original version and keep the new one - it's not really difficult.
I for one won't be buying a new iPad just for the privilege of using eBay.
A customer service disaster if ever I saw one.

Thanks for the report. Please open up the app store on your ipad and search for ebay and then download that version.

Dear mobile_app_help, I wish there was a thumbs-down button I could press for your comments. Our problems has been on going for weeks and you keep reposting the same non-functioning 'solution' and not replying to my subsequent comments. I request that you bump this problem up to your supervisor.

It won't work because the new app takes in iOS 10 apple software and it won't work with earlier iOS versions (iOS 9 and below). As generation 1,2 and 3 iPads can't be updated to iOS 10, like me anyone with anything earlier than a gen 4 iPad has had it .........you can't use your iPad for eBay anymore.

................. and even if I did buy a new iPad , I couldn't buy it through eBay as the app doesn't work. Well done eBay.

Exactly the same problem here.
iPad2 running 9.3.5 says that the ebay app has expired but can't download the latest version which says that it requires v10 or above. There should be an option to stay with the existing version which was working perfectly well before today. Have tried uninstalling the existing version but still can't download the version offered on the app store. Have several items ready to list but am now unable to do anything on the ipad.

YES, I tried! Does anyone in the ebay apps support group has iPad3? Try it youself first!

I have an iPad 3. I have tried (like others in the thread above). It won't update beyond 9.3.5 and Apple confirm it can't update to iOS 10. The eBay app. Is iOS 10 based and won't load onto an iOS 9 iPad, so no useable eBay app is available for generation 1,2,3 iPad users.
CAN EBAY TECH SUPPORT CONFIRM PLEASE.

I agree with majorrascal, can eBay tell us the truth about what has happened and more importantly the future for iOS 9.3.5 users. Personally, I'll have to use my desktop which is frustrating and I'll definitely use eBay less.
It angers, but doesn't surprise me that a major corporation can implement a major software release that is so backwards incompatible and not give the public warning. I suspect there's more change to come, whether we like it or not, with for example eBay's plan to bring payment "in house" when ties with PayPal end. Better Corporate profits or Customer Experience - you decide!

I have a 3rd generation iPad which won't update to IOS.10 but I used the link the eBay community gave me and it worked for me. I guess I was a lucky one.
