Did you mean:

Updates mean I can no longer use eBay in ANY of my devices.

Not everyone is able - or willing- to fork out the cash one now needs to buy or sell on eBay. Recent updates demonstrate clearly that the developers really don’t give a rats’ about Australians doing it tough. I need a new laptop. Can’t buy one of ebay anymore because ebay says I need a new laptop/phone/tablet if I want the privilege of accessing eBay to furnish my need for a new to me, pre loved, laptop. Kind of ironic, don’t you think? I’d guess a huge number of people who, like me, shopped on eBay regularly to improve their life, decor, wardrobe (etc etc etc) can no longer do so.
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that the point of eBay?? Access to affordable new and/or used well priced everythings?
Developers, wouldn’t it be a better idea to either dumb down your now useless for many apps and web pages, or at least grandfather the overly complex idiocy you’ve most recently “developed” to allow access to the people you currently appear to have dismissed as “not useful to eBay’s mission”.
As things are now, people like me might be forgiven for thinking people “like you” are either live in a privileged bubble or are just pineholes who don’t mind releasing updates that are actually classist, racist, ageist (really, all the “ists”), and are quite happy to dismiss the marginalised, elderly, and or poorer among us who once relied on the excellent opportunities to access affordably priced goods on eBay’s huge international new and pre loved market.

Hi @aibee - FYI this is the .com forum, not the AU forum. Not sure what specific device you're using, or how old, but perhaps the following will help.

If you're working on an outdated device that no longer supports current versions of the eBay app, you should be able to access eBay through a web browser on your phone/tablet.

If you're on iOS 15, follow eBay's instructions from this post:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-Apps/App-will-not-update/m-p/34718836#M49148

If your device has iOS 15 you should still be able to get a version of the app that will run on your device

  1. Delete your eBay app
  2. Go to the App Store, search for eBay
  3. When you download it you will see this alert, tapping download should allow you to get a version that will run on your device.

Have you tried just using the browser and going to the site?

Re: Updates mean I can no longer use eBay in ANY of my devices.

I followed the link on eBay.com.au and ended up in this dot com forum. Clearly ebay Australia is more genius than I thought. I dead panned that last bit. Anyway! Your reply was helpful and I appreciate it. App Store *does* suggests I download a compatible version of the app, as you screenshot shows, and fyi anyone else reading, you have to delete the existing app in order to download the next working version, so you say yes please, download the version that works, download happens, excitement ensues,  then you click “open”, more excitement, then the “latest compatible version” app says nah huh, time to update! and won’t open until you do, endless loop ensues unless you jump off, make rude hand signals to your idiot eBay app, and quick smart yourself to Amazon to buy stuff and gumtree to sell stuff because they’re not a bunch of exclusionist twerps and their apps still work, even on your ten year old iPad with an iOS that’s as good as in the negative billions by now.
