When you relist an item for sale, it automatically posts it up as “good til canceled”.... meaning they charge you. They don’t give you the option to have a regular 30 day listing on the mobile app. You have to do it on desktop. Stop charging us and forcing us to use “good till canceled”. You have to read the small print before you relist the item... they won’t even let you change it.

I spoke with someone personally regarding this issue today. Not a representative either. Someone who actually works on the mobile team.
She did not talk to me like this was an isolated incident. She actually knew what I was talking about and has heard numerous complaints regarding this.
So, she explained....when posting with the mobile app it will automatically put the Buy It Now post as Good Til Cancelled. When it does that, it will not charge you a GTC fee. It's actually because ebay is testing out the GTC function and seeing if it will be better for sellers. I did tell her that I believe people still like the option of picking the duration. She was well aware that people have complained about not having a choice. Maybe after they are done getting feedback or testing the GTC that we will get the option again to choose the duration again. But we shouldnt be afraid if our posts are automatically put up as GTC as we will not be charged and should not be charged. It's only if WE manually have selected GTC that there would be a charge. I guess the only way to bypass GTC for now is to write the post and finish it on desktop. I am just glad we are not being charged fees for something else.
I received a phone call because I wrote a long email to the ebay IOS team. I will leave the email address, feel free to submit your complaints and feedback if you are disliking this testing/function.

Not sure what the android email is?

When I list items for buy it now only no auction I’m not given a choice for how long they will be listed anymore. There are so many other problems besides this one with the eBay app as well. It’s practically worthless at this point.

Thanks for the report. Fixed Price listings are automatically set to Good Till Canceled. You can set the duration when you list auctions.
Please let us know the other problems you are having in the app so we can get them looked at.
Thanks

Is that a new thing? Because I used to be able to set how long on my fixed price listings.

Yes it is a new thing. Can you let us know why you would want to have an end time on an item with a Fixed Price?
Thanks

Because when people see it isn’t ending anytime soon they can take their time purchasing and I have to wait that entire time to make money. It’s not fair to sellers who depend on sales.

Hi kbarnes84 I am having the exact same issue but only on my iPad, my iPhone is fine. I don’t suppose you have found a solution to this problem?

If you are using the apps to list fixed price items, Good Til Canceled will be used.
Thank you

Hi,
it isn’t actually good til cancelled, it’s a buy it now but is stuck on 5 days with no option to revise. Unsure why this has happened as this morning everything was listing fine.
Kind regards

It really sucks that ebay changed this. I dont want my stuff listed forever. Sometimes I Donate stuff if it doesnt sell. Or I want to set it aside and list it during a different season. The worst part is, I cant even go revise the listing and set it for 30 days.
Ebay is just making things more difficult for sellers. It makes me not want to list anything because it's a pain in the ass now.

Ditto what everyone else saying. We don't want the listing sitting there forever. This totally stinks. CHANGE IT BACK.
08-29-2018 06:39 PM
Yes, Ebay, please change it back!! The Seller should have the option to choose buy it now for various reasons. I totally hate the new listing format on the App. PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS LAST WEEK!

I have same issue on my android app updated today I have no option to select duration of my lusting. What eBay is saying is wrong as unless I can select good til cancelled they charge me for the listing. It is not setting these as good til cancelled automatically at all... I have called eBay and nobody knows the answer. The eBay operative checked his own app and he has the option under pricing. His eBay shows pricing and format ... mine shows pricing only . Once again I cannot now use thus app it is useless to be now

Rubbish eBay this us not true as otherwise I would not be charged for this duration... I am showing as being charged because I have no option to amend my duration to good til cancelled. This app is now useless

I agree with everyone above. The new format for sellers is atrocious, and ebay should be embarrassed. It's extremely difficult to figure out what you're even looking at when you preview your listing. When previewing a listing the majority of the details I added are incorrect (ie: color, size, features).
Earlier tonight I tried to create a listing on my phone three separate times, only to have the entire listing deleted except for the title when I tried to save it so I could list it at later date.
In every seller update ebay claims they have to continue raising fees, and slashing top rated discounts in order to "continue creating a better platform for sellers." It's laughable and blows my mind that the 2nd largest online retailer in America can be this bad. Just further proof that Amazon will continue kicking your teeth in...
