Ebay App - what is it and why?

Lately I get on ebay and I'm bombarded with messages and enticements to get the app.

Why does ebay want me to use their app? 

I don't understand apps and I'm not interested.

I'm happy with the old fashioned way and all these promotions are just annoying.

I only do ebay (I'm not a big user) on my imac and once in a rare while on my lap top. I don't use  my phone.

Yeah I'm old and not to swift on this stuff. 

I'd appreciate an explanation and if possible a way to block the annoying promotion stuff.

Bottom line: ignore it, X out, etc.

There's no way through eBay to turn it off, and while there are probably workarounds to block the app pop-up using ad blocker software and adding specific commands, it sounds like that's beyond your level of tech comfort.

What you can do is click the ? icon on the lower right corner of your eBay page where the pop-ups are occurring, then fill out the link to send feedback and express your dissatisfaction. eBay does review those reports, especially if a lot of people are reporting the same thing.
