Well I stumbled across the fix for this today and it’s mostly my fault (apparently). When in the eBay app scanner mode you have the choice to take a photo or use the scanner. The icon /switch that shows which mode you are in (and what you press to change modes) shows a barcode when you are in the photo mode and a camera when you are in the barcode mode. Mine was showing a barcode, so I thought I was in the correct (barcode) mode, but I was actually in the camera mode. So I pressed the bar code icon, it changed to a camera icon and now the barcode scanner works. Kind of non-intuitive how they have that set up, but at least it’s working now.
