Can’t update my eBay app says I need iOS 16 and my older phone doesn’t have that

If your operating system does not support the latest version of the eBay app and you cannot update your operating system, it should still be possible to use a mobile browser to go to ebay.com or ebay.co.uk and use eBay that way.

If eBay browser links are opening in the app automatically, iOS users should be able to tap and hold an eBay browser link and select "don't open in the app" to prevent that from happening.

Thanks for reporting this. If your device has iOS 15 you should still be able to get a version of the app that will run on your device

1. Delete your ebay app
2. Go to the App Store, search for ebay
3. When you download it you will see this alert, tapping download should allow you to get a version that will run on your device.

I have iOS 15.8.3 and followed your instructions of  deleting the eBay app and re-installing from the store.   I don’t get the message to download a lower compatible version.  It just tells me the App requires iOS 16 and then kicks me out.   What’s the deal???

Hi, I have followed the instructions above but still not opening the app. Keeps saying needs updating. Comes up on the screen: Exit or Update, when you press exit it closes the app, when you press update it takes you to the AppStore and says: Open (at the top), when you press open it takes you back to eBay and then Exit or Update pop’s up again as before.

I use eBay everyday to sell and buy things so really need to get this sorted please.

I’m using an iPad Air 2 which isn’t exactly that old.

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Yes ebay get this sorted now you’ve totally messed up thousands of businesses with this update get it sorted

You’re team needs to work fast to resolve this buddy it’s totally insane you’ve caused a hell of a state for hundreds of businesses who now can’t use eBay the online version is pardon my French utter junk can’t even view all my saved watch lists needs to get sorted guys

iPad Air 2 is old in tech years and cannot update past iOS 15. You need a min of iOS 16 to download an older version of the app and a min of iOS 17 to download a current version of the app. You'll have to access eBay via a web browser instead and I recommend deleting the app so links don't try to open in the app instead of your browser. @bertieboo12

I’ve had the exact same been using eBay for about 5 years on this phone buying and selling constant now It’s done for unless i buy a newer phone which is ridiculous it needs sorted it’s a total disaster in my opinion would have been nice to get some notice aswell
