Need help with reference source
Would appreciate few references on artists in Miniature Painting? Who is 'HIL'? This miniature painting is approximately 1 .5 inch by 2 inch. From make of the jewelry, I think it's early 1900s. Artist used 3 real diamonds on the painting.

What are these tiny pins used for?
They were with a small lot of men's jewelry but I haven't seen their like before. They fasten like a safety pin. Black one is approx. 1 1/8 in. long, others are shorter as seen in photo.
