EBAY DISCRIMINATION

It's nearly impossible to contact CS through Ebay's website, so this is my only recourse. Some months back Ebay removed two historic documents I had posted -- one on slavery; the other a Ku Klux Klan document. They stated they were "offensive." [Really? a slave document, offensive]. Anyway, at the time, I pointed out that there were dozens of similar items that had been up there for ages. Their response -- "we're getting to them...we are very busy here." I had just listed my documents; the others had been up prior to my listings. They told me I would not be allowed to list those items again. YET, there are dozens of the same / similar items still on Ebay. I'd love to know why I was singled out.

Same reason you get pulled over by the cop foe speeding  but they didn't pull the other  drivers over that were passing you.

You got caught. They haven't been caught. They might never get caught. That's not discrimination btw.

Could have been the wording in the listing? Could maybe have been because you were on eBays radar for something else? All we can do is make guesses, we are not eBay, so don't really know the whys sometimes. The non-human bots caught yours in their net and pulled the listings.

Discrimination

Prejudicial treatment
Discrimination is the act of making unjustified distinctions between people based on the groups, classes, or other categories to which they belong or are perceived to belong. People may be discriminated on the basis of race, gender, age, religion, disability, or sexual orientation, as well as other categories. Discrimination especially occurs when individuals or groups are unfairly treated in a way which is worse than other people are treated, on the basis of their actual or …

Well, I've been in contact with other buyers who had their listings before mine went up and some still have the same items up. None of them, after all these months, have had anything removed. So.....

Discrimination is:

the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, age, sex, or disability:

Not 'listing things' on a website.

EVIL EVIL things of da past must not be allowed to be sold: even though it is history:

Denial it ever went on it be a happening.

eBay is not going to allow such due to the majority do not want it around eBay: or any were for that mater.

It is controversial > promotes hatred, shows hatred of others in the past and now, and so on.

It offend people.

eBay has the right to pull any listing for any reason by the way: you agree to such using the site....

As for other listed that is never a way to say you can list or not.

Policy can be found here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/offensive-materials-policy?id=4324

Note: it can be hit and miss when such is reported as well.

There was nothing in my wording, except the use of the term "slavery" for one item and "anti-Christian" for there other document, that was any different from other items listed.

And yes, I stand corrected for using the term "discrimination."

Being **bleep** off [oops -- that might not make it through the algorithms], sometimes results in overstatement.

One of the reps I had a "chat" with identified himself as a Black man and said he was offended by slave documents. I mentioned that he certainly should be but that is no reason to deny history and cover up the atrocities of the past. No response.

I do believe it is the algorithm that picked up something and tried to address that with them...nothing.

Anyone can report a item for any reason.  Once a item is reported I think it is evaluated sooner than eBay on their own, searching their website for violations to remove.

It is like on these Community Threads.  Rules are routinely broken and eBay knows this.  They may get around to enforcing the rule one day.    But when a obvious violation has been reported they may feel obligated to act and remove the offending post sooner.
