Hello,
I came accross the discussions while trying to research vintage YSL. I found these vintage YSL blazers and they look decent but the price scares me a little and I was wondering if you could help me in pointing me in the right direction. Links to each listing below.
Thank you for taking the time to review my email, hope to hear your opinions.
Best,
Jonathan

You can wait for others but I won’t click on links. I assume the links lead to ebay listings and know that boardies are not supposed to comment on the live auctions of others. I understand that this isn’t very helpful and I’m sorry but I can give you some guidance.
Respectfully, I’m not interested in doing any research on this so I’m writing off the top of my head so take the following with a grain of salt.
Saint Laurent licensed production of his men’s collection all over the place in the 80s until well into the 90s and in my opinion it was all commercial mid level department store stuff.
You need to look at and ask country of origin. Look for a “made in France” piece and if you find a vintage jacket with a “Rive Gauche” label-grab it but any made in France piece will be high quality.
There’s nothing wrong with buying a licensed piece-it still is legally Saint Laurent but it isn’t going to hold a candle IMO to a made in France piece.
Hope this helps and happy hunting.

They all appear to be genuine. But keep in mind that the YSL brand was widely licenseed in the 1980s so their relationship to the designer may be nothing more than a royalty check.

Hello jsales0,
Thanks for your feedback, as I am new to the world of ebay I did not quite know the rules/boarderies of asking questions on listed/live items. I will make sure to double check and refercne the correct guidlines.
Again thank for your input, it was helpful, even with the lack of interest in doing reserch.
Best.

I'm not jsales0 but I just feel the need to post.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt by conceding that tone and intent are difficult to interpret and hard to read in the written word.
But seriously, @jsales0 is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful poster, offering a wealth of information for which she (nor the rest of us) gets nothing in return. Keep in mind that posters aren't ebay employees but rather volunteers who take time from our own busy schedules to help posters.
For your to imply unwillingness to help in jsales0's caveats to you comes of as rude and a sense of entitlement you seem to believe you're owed.
1. Clicking on links posted by virtual strangers makes us and our computers vulnerable to viruses and malware.
2. Posting links to listings IS against ebay board posting policy and if caught and reported puts your account as well as those who reply to you at risk. If you and we get enough "slaps" from the board mods, we can get suspended from the boards.
3. Sometimes people do post links to listings asking authenticity questions and it's up to the poster whether they want to respond. Enforcement is sporadic but the fact is that rules are rules and it's ebay's sandbox so they make and enforce the rules.
4. Doing the research to answer YOUR question wasn't Jsales's job. YOU are the buyer and should be doing your own research. Post pictures that are embedded and viewable and I'm sure you would have received an opinion from her. But DO NOT expect others to "do the research."
JMHO.

Hello albertabrightalberta,
Thanks for your feel of needing to post, extednidng the benefit of the doubt that tone and intent are difficult to interpret and hard to read in the written word.
Again, as stated I am new to the ebay world. I did not mean for my response to come accross any other way than greatful for the knowlegde shared.
Reiterating, I was not aware that posting links to live auctions was not permitted, I will be sure to post with caution next time abidding by discussion board policies.
As it is appreciated for the time that was taken out of busy schedules to respond to my questions which was posted to outsource "others" opinions and research offered thorugh the inteded use of a discussion board. JMHO
Best.
