Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

There is nothing about that dress that would lead one to believe that it came from a luxury Italian design house.   Simple PUCCI dresses retail for close to $1,000.  Go to the brand's web site and compare quality/design of this dress with a genuine one.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

I agree with Debora. IMO the dress is counterfeit and nothing about the print looks like Pucci including the  lack of Emilio sigs. The labels are both incorrect too IMO. Sorry, and yes I see that same tag on badly constructed Fucci items.

Take back what I said about the sigs-I see that they are there but that doesn’t change my opinion.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

OP You can put another $7.50 into it as I think authenticate4u does Pucci but I still can’t believe that construction has gone that shoddy on Pucci and there should be an Italian label inside and I would not expect the silk jersey to be in English.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

I'm not familiar with Pucci design specifics, but I know fake content labels — "100% SILK JERSEY [sic]" is not a legitimate fabric label which is required to define the fabric content,  not the type or weave, e.g. 100% SILK or PURE SILK, but not 100% silk  jersey / twill / taffeta /charmeuse / velvet or chiffon.

So, "silk jersey" on a content label = fake, and will often turn out to be polyester. Give it the heat test with an iron or steamer & see if it emits a chemical odor.

And agree with genemaat-Jersey shouldn’t b mentioned! Don’t waste more money on authentication.

@aimeblu0 -- It's best to start your own thread when requesting an authentication of a different item rather than hijacking another.

Your dress isn't made by Emilio Pucci.

You mention "EP" initials but he doesn't put his initials on his items. He spells out his first name (as shown below).

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

I have never used the ebay community before and thought maybe it was better NOT to start a whole other thread when one already exists.
Also, if you look at how he does the E and P, it is similar to how it is done in the monogram circle. I won't just take your word for it because the age of this item might pre-date his cursive signature. My trouble is finding out who, at Emilio Pucci now, would know. There are 2 retail stores nearby in NYC that I plan on contacting to see if they can connect me to the right person.
But indeed, it may be someone copied his design AND put his initials on it back in the 60s (or prior?) but I am not going to rule out anything else yet, either.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

I don't even see the EP you refer to. Would you please point it out?

Please don't just blindly accept my opinion. Wait for others.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

Sorry - but I'm not finding the E and P in your picture.  Could you please post a close-up of it?

You can look up Emilio Pucci labels across the years by going to the Vintage Fashion Guild website, where they have an excellent set of images of Pucci tags by decade.

The only place I'm aware of Pucci using initials in his fabrics is in his lingerie for Formfit Rogers, and then it was EPFR

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

2nd OP LOL,

I’ll continue here since others have , but in the future I hope that boardies will immediately inform the poster that they MUST start a new thread for their question and not answer the tag on.  We don’t want to support add on threads as it bluntly gets waaay tooo confusing for those trying to help as to which item the responses are given.

POSTERS-ALWAYS start your own thread with the brand in the title and the nature of the question so you attract the appropriate boardies.

Next, having collected Pucci since the 70s I see nothing Pucci about that piece although it’s certainly Pucci inspired which cannot be used to describe it although I suppose one could say Puchyesque and avoid KWS.

I don’t even know that it’s vintage although it would help if you posted the interior construction.

As far as the EP that you see in the rondel goes, no it’s not EP  and is just an Asian inspired design but I do think it may say that Paul IS Dead. ( Just ignore if you weren’t around in the 60s)...

Lastly 2nd OP,

Please read my last response on the current thread on a Chanel dress. It’s a few threads down. You may find my last post useful.

@jsales0

If you're referring to the post where you recommended professional authentication services, the one who offers multiple brands with brand-specialists doesn't appear to do Pucci. (I don't know who does Pucci.)

Personally, I wouldn't recommend spending the money on a pro because I think it'd be throwing good money after bad.

In fact, the fabric and pattern remind me of marrimekko-style patterns, not Pucci.

Re: Please help Emilio Pucci Dress Authentication.

Thanks Alberta. I had no clue that they don’t do Pucci but personally I’d ask them. I’m surprised that they’re not on the list. IMO it’s a label that they should do.  I wouldn’t put another dime into that piece personally but the 2nd OP was adamant that she doesn’t trust the opinions given so I thought another $7.50 was a small price to pay as opposed to schlepping the piece all over and posting on numerous boards.
