New Policies

Ebay is killing the small business owners on here. I am disabled military and this supplements my income. First you take away my right to say how my items can be returned. Then, you take away my right to charge a restocking fee. Then finally, you force me to offer free returns in order for me to get my well earned Top Rated Seller. Now I say the word force because if I make the choice to offer No Returns I go to the bottom of the barrel that I am already cross to as it is. I will not be rotated or "Best Match" as it is termed. For some sellers this effects them very little, but for a 200 item store that works as hard to keep my good standing with ebay this new "Policy" is killing me and others. I have NO control over my store other than to close it and that is not what I want, but is anyone listening????? Maybe do these policies to the upper level sellers that can take this kind of hit. When I sell something the money is gone. I don't have resources for "Remorse Purchases"!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New Policies

In my 21 yrs as an eBay seller,I have seen changes galore. The old forums were full of sellers planning to leave over new policies.Unsure if they did or where they went,as eBay is really the only game in town.It is their playground, they set the rules,we can play or not play.I understand your thoughts on the new policies.I lost my Top Seller Plus as I don't plan to offer free returns. It is what it is,however.

Re: New Policies

Yep, I’m not going to do free returns either.  I think that will really increase the number of “renters” if they know that they can just send it back and not have to pay shipping

Re: New Policies

I'm not offering free returns either. I can't afford it. My highest selling item is at least $9 to ship to/from anywhere in the country. That would be a $18 loss for returns. Ebay's decision to offer free returns is crazy. Most online stores don't offer free returns. If I'm not going to get my Top Rated Seller badge anymore, then I might as well switch back to 14 day returns or no returns.

Re: New Policies

I'm not changing anything. I don't have returns although when requested (politely and reasonably), I've never refused a return.

In the last 2 years, I've only had 3 buyers request returns.

One buyer did file SNAD claiming a smoke smell, probably because she didn't want to pay return shipping. Although I sent a prepaid shipping label, she didn't use it nor did she return the bag.

The other two admitted to remorse/didn't like/didn't fit and paid return shipping without question. Because I don't do "free" shipping, their refunds were for the item price only. Since I'd paid for shipping to send it out, I didn't refund it.
