How to get Ebay proof that Coach is fake?

I recently purchased a Coach purse.  Listing pictures are of an authentic item, however I received a counterfit.  It's easy to spot because of spelling and spacing errors in creed.

Ebay wants me to obtain some written proof (email etc) from Coach stating it is counterfit before I can receive a refund.

I've tried reaching out to Coach to no avail.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of situation.  Any help would be appreciated.

It is very sad.

Well, I followed your advise and Authenticate4u was quick to respond.  I also spoke with Ebay again and reported the seller so maybe they can at least wack this mole.

As for the return, it looks like a proof of counterfit would prove it is not as described and I wouldn't have to return the item for resale, and my conscience will be clear.

Thank you all for your help.

Re: How to get Ebay proof that Coach is fake?

UPDATE:

Thanks to your help, my case came to a quick resolution.  The SNAD case had been open for 9 days as the seller and I communicated.  After no resolution, eBay put the case on hold.  That's when I reached out to you guys.

Following your advice, I contacted Authenticate4u via Facebook and they were very quick to respond and even provided a same day evaluation.  With it confirmed non-authentic, eBay directed me to upload an image of Authenticate4u's document as a message to seller (I guess this is where eBay views all supporting documents?).  I then got a bit of a round about and vague directions from customer service.  Something about it will be investigated and... I guess I was to give it some time?

Confused, I contacted them the following day.  This time my instructions where to message seller and explain that eBay wants them to either, provide an authentic item or full refund.  Seller responded with their terms:  They would choose full refund.  However, they would not do it themselves.  Instead it was contingent on me sending the item to eBay and requesting a refund directly from eBay (?).  Also, I was to delete the negative review I left.

So I called customer service again.  This time they concluded that seller was not willing to provide a refund themselves, so the case was closed in my favor and they issued a full refund.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped!  The eBay community is so fortunate to have you!

Hooray!

The demand for removal of the negative feedback is feedback extortion and should have been a huge violation for the seller! I hope ebay saw that!

I guess the bag is yours to do with as you please but for the time being, I would recommend you hold on to it in case the seller wants it back and is willing to send you cleared payment that covers full return shipping. You are NOT obligated to return it and in fact, not obligated to even respond to the seller!

Omg!  That's the first I've heard of feedback extortion.  Everyday I learn something new.  I'm sure eBay will see it.

I'm glad you mentioned I hold it a while.  My dog loves anything leather or resembling leather!  I'd rather destroy it than put it back in sellers hands, but I'll keep it intact for a bit longer.

Thank you for your help.  It's a huge relief and I hope others in similar situations can benefit from this.

Hi, Purse forums and blogs are other great resources to find out which online outlet sellers others have purchased from that sell authentic Coach goods. Even if you don't get the exact item or even the top-of-the-line item at a Coach outlet store, it is still from Coach

Ive seen plenty of fakes sold on blogs and Ive also seen a TON of very bad information posted on them. And how does someone KNOW that theyre selling authentic? Whose recommendation are you going to believe?

And what exactly do you mean by "online outlet sellers"? There are also a TON of sites selling fake Coaches with names that include the words "Coach" and "outlet". How does a new buyer know which is the real Coach outlet? There is only one legitimate Coach online outlet, all the rest sell fakes.

While your information may be of some help in a perfect world, this world isnt perfect, and counterfeiters and their distributors LIE.

Find out who the qualified authenticators are, either here or at ThePurseForum, and post an authentication request with photos. Let qualified authenticators do the authenticating, NOT some anonymous online blog.

Theres a Pinned post right at the top of this thread called "Posting on the Fashion Board", please read it and let the experts give advice based on years of experience.

I can not believe the process was so complicated for you as a buyer.  I was under impression that all you have to do is choose Not Authentic on your return and sellers have no say. I also cant believe that Ebay allows sellers like this to operate freely, and sell loads of merchandise, when i periodically have my items taken down as counterfeit,  which i have personally purchased at Nordstrom, Saks, etc.(and i provide pictures of EVERY label, tag, and zipper)  And i'm not  a business, just a selling some stuff from my closet. Not fair 😞

In most cases, it's not this complicated for buyers. In fact, too often, buyers with remorse who are just too cheap to pay return shipping will allege fake in order to force a return at no expense to themselves.

But what made this case unusual is the seller's location and the perceived "honesty" and "integrity" of sellers from that country. Ebay hasn't recognized that sellers in that country have branched out into brands with which they aren't totally familiar as well as that counterfeiters have gotten "better" at manufacturing closer fakes.

So knowingly or not, those sellers aren't always selling genuine items. (And a lot of the fakes aren't as obvious as the one that the OP got. In her case, the problems are so blatant that it should have been easily recognized that the buyer received a fake.)

Re: How to get Ebay proof that Coach is fake?

This was a first for me.  I imagined this type of SNAD case would be straight forward.  Maybe I was just unlucky.  Either way, the authentication was key to a refund and (likely)  removal of the listing.

I can see how, with better quality cointerfits, many people can be deceived.  Honestly, aside from the bag itself, the receipt and tags had me fooled.  I only realized the receipt was fake when the seller said she purchased it in Japan, when the receipt states New York.

Knowing nothing can be done about the dishonest sellers is descouraging.  Especially when it affects the honest ones.

I wonder if all designer items were umbrellaed under eBay Authenticity Guarantee if that would weed them out? Just a thought.

Please don't let your dog chew on the bag, you have no idea what kind of poisonous or danger chemicals were used on it since it is counterfeit.  I am a worry wort and couldn't leave the thread without saying something.  Glad it turned out good for you.

And the sad thing is that many if these buyers will never know that they have been ripped off.
