Hi All. So I recently came into about 525 ties...silk, rayon, polyester, wool etc. There really aren't any high end names more like Surrey, Stafford, Barrington , London Fog, Briar and Claybrook . I'm wondering if these are even worth my time to list. I can still make some profit at .22 per tie even with fees....maybe $4 or $5 a tie if and when they sell. Thought I might concentrate on the silk ties first and maybe not even mess with the polyester.
Any thoughts or comments would be great
Thanks

I have sold lots of ties for craft projects with moderate success.

I personally don't think so. I tried selling ties for a while and even some of the good brands are very slow sellers. They may be .22 per, but after cleaning (if needed), photo'ing, listing and hopefully selling, you might stand to make $1 profit - minus the .22 it's not much for your time. That might be $110 you wouldn't recover.
ETA: You could try lots.

It only would make sense if you see lots of 10 or 12 ties being sold. Check comps. But certainly not worth selling individually, especially generic striped ties.

Was just about to suggest that.

hi, chap...i probably have over 1500 or more ties in all kinds of fabrics i collected for years with the dream i would have a seamstress create "tie" skirts. meaning an elastic waist band then stitch each tie together from waist to below hips, with points pointing down...some could be mini to midi length..have never listed individual ties except maybe a few that were from the 40's or 50's....i guess an old hippie dream.

I was thinking of the tie skirts, too, that's where lotting them up might work. I found that when I was selling ties (I've tried selling just about everything here lol), unless they were outrageous or theme, if they sold at all I'd net about $1 from them. Thing is, people using them for craft projects are probably not going to pay a great deal per tie, because supplies are a real cost in making things. 500 ties - if I were purchasing them for .22 each as a craft lot I'd say sure, but for resale, not so sure.
At any rate, I just remember buying out the stock from a rental bridal shop on the same pennies on the dollar deal - it was when eBay was really healthy. It took me years to finally get rid of all of those danged gowns - ever since I'm wary of large lots of slow selling items. At least ties don't take up much room.
But that's just my own experience and opinion - the OP can take into consideration all POV and decide.
