i understand why you might yank the drive, RAM, and batteries, but why sell w/o the back cover?

I cant think of why other than to hide the service tag and/or serial number.
But this doesn't make sense since it's usually a sticker that can be removed and both items are embedded in the BIOS.
Curious to see what others say. I would probably avoid said laptop.

Maybe there's a Windows COA on it that can still be used. Personally, I wipe the drive and sell units whole ( I don't need anymore spare parts sitting around)--why only get $ when you can get $$.

Why not just take the sticker off or destroy the label...why the whole cover?

exactly... if they just want to hide the tag to keep buyers from looking up what the unit originally had (or to keep the unscrupulous from stealing Windoze serial #s) it would be simpler to stick a postit over the label...

i've peeled off a few of those stickers from old machines just to have an extra for a used machine that didn't come with one... but i wouldn't keep a cover with the sticker still attached and sell the rest...
