So I bought a used msi 1080 gtx. I chose msi cause they will honor 2 hand buyers. So got the Gpu it worked great less then a week and then failed. I was playing fallout 4 and suddenly the game froze and crashed. I notice I had a message that the nvidia display driver kernel mode stopped responding. I thought well thats odd, tried to open fallout 4 again. as soon as it gets to the point where it trys to display video game crashes every time with the same error message. So I restart my computer and its still failing and now the drivers fail ramdonly on windows and firefox. it also displays artifacts on windows and firefox. I tried to trouble shoot this proplem before contacting the seller to make sure it wasnt anything on my end. I tried two different pci-e slots to see if that would change anything. It didnt. I tried using a driver cleaner to make sure it wasnt a driver proplem. didnt help. I tried to use different drivers versions didnt help. So I contacted the seller and he/she wasnt anyhelp. just offter to give me msi rma number. I told Him/her that I already tried talking with msi and found out the Gpu is a remanufactured gpu and only has a 2 year warranty and not the 3 year it normally comes with. warranty ened in august. I also mentioned to the seller that they didnt list the Gpu as remanufactured and I wish I had known that before hand. If I have known the warranty expired in august and the gpu was remanufactured would have never bought it.
So they basically say sorry cant help you. I even asked if I could exchange the Gpu for a other 1080 gtx got no reply on that and the seller is selling a other gtx 1080. So its obvous the seller doesnt want to help, he/she got my money.
I open a case to requst a return, had to wait until the 11th to ask ebay to set in. never heard anything else from the seller. so on the 11th at about 12:10 am I thought before I go to bed I better ask ebay to step in. couldnt find the botton anywhere to ask ebay to set in. I goolgle it and they said to go to the ebay resolution center. I do and I dont see my case listed. I fooled around for about an hour and gave up. It was very late and I needed to get to bed.
I thought well maybe its a bug and later in the moring I will beable to ask ebay to step in. So I wake up later that moring and see that the seller asked ebay to spet in and my case was closed. And now the case shows up in ebay resolution center but has a different reason to as why Im reqesting a return. originally I reqested a return cause the item wasnt working and was defective. Now then its listed item received wasnt what was on this listing? confused I call ebay up and ask whats going on, she said my original case was closed cause the seller ask ebay to step in. I told her how I tried to ask ebay to set in but was never given the option. and the seller ask before I was able to. ebay person didnt really say much about that. just now that they are going to look into it. I asked will it make any diffence if the seller ask ebay to step in besides the buyer? she said no, I asked are my pictures that I unloaded showing the artifacts I was getting on screen? she said yes they are still there. I said well you dont have to be an expert to tell thats not normal. she agreed. I asked if they had all the mesages with the steps I tryied to troubleshoot the gpu. she said yes. I felt pretty good then. though I had a solid case. But I get up today and the case was closed and ebay cant refund me.
But I requested a return and refund. I called ebay and asked why my case was close? ebay tech tells me since I tryed to troubleshoot buy removing the gpu and trying other slots, the ebay team deemd that I altered the gpu. If I didnt have 374$ on the line I would that that responce was hilarious. so by trying trouble shoot to make sure before emailing the seller to make absolutely sure I wasnt wasing his/ her time and it wasnt a proplem on my end has came back to bite in the butt..... And I can prove its not on my end my old rx 460 works fine in the computer.
Words along can not express how disapointed I am with ebay, so much for money back guarantee. Im definitetly not ever going to buy somthing that expsivese use from ebay again. And I really feel somthing fishy was going since I was never able to ask ebay to set in but the seller was.
Also found out for some reason I was checked out as a guest, I never told it to cheack me out as a guest. I did use the ebay mobil app. but ive used it many times before and was never cheak . So now the transation doesnt show up in my palpal account.

I'm glad you finally got your problem resolved!
It was determined the seller sent you an item that was not as decribed.
Note: The above sentance was all that mattered and it was the only information necessary you needed to provide.

Just give what is necessary; nothing less, nothing more.

Did you really expect him to reply? It sounds like you both went through a lenghtly and frustrating ordeal. I'll bet he wants nothing to do with any more transactions involving you as a buyer.

This is the only thing you said that mattered. At this point you should have filed a SNAD claim with ebay, gotten a return label, return the item and get a refund.
By giving way too much information, not filing a claim right away (and asking ebay to step in if necessary) you gave the seller the upper hand.
Do you really think the eBay CS rep knew what you were talking about or knew what the pictures represented?

well, i thought that the more info iI gave the better. I was trying to prove that I did evrything I could to fix the proplem. and wanted the seller to know I wasnt trying to send it back for no reason. I also also under the impression ebay wants you to try to work with the seller frist before coming to them.

Also as far as I know, In order to file a claim with ebay you have to open a case frist requesting a return then wait 5 days until you can ask ebay to step in . Ebay even encourages you to try to work with the seller before opening a case. Thats what I did and maybe I gave to much info, But I just wanted to show that I did evrything I could to make sure the proplem wasnt on my end. Guess me trying to be hosest and upfront about everything costed me.
Paypal is going to try to help me, and if they cant then, then the only opstion I have is to dispute the charge with my credit card.

Thats what you should have done.

Yes, you could cotact the seller, tell them the card isn't working and you want to return it. If he refuses, file the claim. Nothing more. Telling him you did things to the card is not a good idea, even if it did not harm the card.

If you purchased with a credit card then you need to dispute the charge with your credit card issuer, not paypal. Simply state it was advertised as a working card, it doesn't work, you want to get a refund and you are willing to return it.

I actually tried to ask ebay to set in that was the plan. but I wasn’t able to do that. The case never showed up the the Resolution center. And the sell was able to ask them to step in before I was able.
Ive already talked to my Credit card company. They said if PayPal is willing to try to get me a refund and a return to let them. Then if that doesn’t work out call the credit card company back. He said opening a dispute with them should be the last resort.
now then since for what ever reason ebay checked me out as a guest. I can’t see the charge on my PayPal statement and it’s not in the Resolution center . This just keeps getting better and better.....

Sounds like they were tryng to get you off the phone. Since you didn't use your paypal account to pay for the item I don't think Paypal can help you
Have to agree with repairelectronics, you get to choose your payment method at checkout. You seem to have choosen credit card so it will not appear in your paypal account. If it is not in your Paypal account, can Paypal really help you?

Opening a dispute with your credit card issuer may be your only resort. Remember to keep it simple and good luck.

Ok, For some reason when I played with my credit card ebay or paypal cheaked me out as a guest. But paypal was able to find the transaction. Im not sure why it checked me out as a gusst but it did. Ive used my card before and it show in my paypal account. unfortunately that really complicated things. since the transaction didnt show up in my account. I had do file a case and up date the case over the phone with paypal. not to big of a deal but some times the hold times are long.
But I got good news, palpay told me to ship the gpu back then I could get a refund. I did and payed extra to get delivery confirmation thinking the seller understandably is probably not very happy about all this. He/or she might claim they never got the package. But it was delivered today. called paypal and they refuned the hole 374$ back to my card. What a relief.. fell like a weight been lifted off me.
I hate this ended like it did. and I learnd a lot. I guess when asking for a return give as little info as possible . That goes against how I was raised. I like to be as honest and upfront as possible . But me giving all the info I guess bite me in the butt with ebay. oh well i guess it is what it is. Its to bad the seller refused to work with me. He or she is even still selling a other gtx 1080 and I asked if I could exchange the 1080 I bought from the seller but he never replied so I guess they didnt want to. I would have even been willing to play the difference.... but it's to late for that now. I already got a better version gtx 1080 and it was never registered with msi. so its got a 2 and a half years left on the warranty. also Its not a remanufactured gpu.
