Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

While it might take a day or two to reply, we'll sure do all we can to help answer questions about your vintage Walt Disney or Disneyland collectible.

In particular, we try to specialize in items produced during Walt Disney's lifetime (1901 - 1966).

Much of the new stuff is nice, but we love the original Walt Disney collectibles!

Best wishes as you build your vintage Disneyana collection!

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

I have one more item that I would like to know the value of. It is a tin box made by Hallmark, copyright 1977 Walt Disney Productions, featuring Bambi, Thumper, and the little skunk. Two of the sides of the box have sayings on them: "To make your heart magically happy..." The top and all the sides have pictures of those characters and flowers, and butterflies. The box is about 4 by 4 by 4 inches. Thank you for any advice.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

QUESTION:
I found two complete ticket books from the late 60's to early 70's. Very excellent condition. The back cover says "Your courtesy guest Admission to 5 Adventures in Disneyland" With a red castle, copyrighted Walt Disney Productions and has the serial numbers X058044 on one and the other book is next in series. The E ticket says 85 cents on it, D .70, C .40, B .25, A .10

ANSWER:
It's tough without pictures, but it sounds like these are the mini-books that would be distributed at City Hall for those who had received complimentary admission at the Main Gate. They were issued in 1978 - 1980; and there may be others as well. Most ticket books have fallen in value recently, typically selling for $10 - $20 each; depending upon attractions listed on the tickets, and the specific year of issue.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

QUESTION:
I would appreciate some advice about the value of a Mickey Mouse watch. The watch is probably 40 years old. It has Mickey with his arms being the hands. The numbers are in red. It has a red leather band. It says copyright WDP on the face and US Time on the back. The box fits down over a base that has a cardboard figure of Mickey that holds the watch. The base is green cardboard and says Mickey Mouse, Shock- Resistant. The box is red with many Disney characters on it and with a big white label saying Mickey Mouse Club and Mouseketeers with a big picture of Mickey. The box says copyright Walt Disney Productions.

ANSWER:
There were so many produced that values tend to be rather soft. This sounds like a 1955 - 1958 issue; though it's hard to tell without pictures. It's worth more with the original box. This one's impossible to evaluate without photos... but it's likely worth more than $50... possibly up to $150 - $200.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

Hiya,

Hoping you can help 🙂

I have seen a mirror with a painting of Cinderella on it. It is in a pine frame, quite big and the painting is on the glass of the mirror. It has ©Walt Disney Productions in the bottom right hand corner. It is a scene of Cinderella leaving the castle at midnight with her carriage waiting outside.

Any thoughts of how old it might be or worth?

Thanks!

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

In response to #319:

"Mickey's Misfortune" was one in a set of six "Wee Little Books" published in 1934. The tiny paperback books commonly sell for $20 - $30 each, depending upon condition. Often, the books are found in poor condition, so those in mint or near-mint condition can sell for a premium.

ANSWER:
These mirrors were sold at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the 1970's. They often sell for $50 to $75 today. There was also a similar set of Disneyland mirrors, with images from each land. These often sell for $75 - $125 today.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

QUESTION: (#320)
I would appreciate any information about this Donald Duck Gund doll. It measures approx. 12" has the label Gund New York 10, NY, condition is pretty good.

ANSWER:
Actually, this item is only in fair condition, and is too soiled for most vintage collectors. If it's able to be cleaned (a professional restorer and/or dry cleaner should be able to evaluate), it's value may still only be only in the $25 - $35 range. The market is very soft for these early plush animals, as they were produced in such abundance and are not eagerly sought by today's Disneyana collectors.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

SPECIAL BULLETIN from Saturday's Toys:

TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS and FRIENDS:

We were stunned this week when eBay notified us that on Feb. 18, they will increase their end-of-auction fees by over FIFTY PERCENT.

Such unmitigated greed has usually been reserved for corporate giants who later fell by the way-side as they grew more and more disconnected from the customers they claimed to serve.

Apparently, eBay views their dominant position in the marketplace as untouchable. The history of American commerce tends to prove otherwise.

We can only hope that eBay management comes to their senses before they destroy the most successful enterprise of the new millennium. We encourage the eBay Board of Directors to respond immediately in support of the dedicated eBay customers who have so faithfully contributed to this thriving marketplace.

Our desire is to continue serving the needs of vintage Disneyana collectors on eBay. We can only hope that eBay management can promptly allow for an improved fee structure that will permit stores like ours to survive the fallout of this unfortunate announcement.

ANSWER:
You do have a rare item, although the value is highly subjective. Collectors of rare plastic or advertising premiums will be most likely to pay top dollar for this item. Though your packaging is rare, it's also badly stained and not ideal for presentation (thereby eliminating most museums and/or archives). We would estimate the premium at $50 - $75; although this would be a seller's market. Set your price where you want it to be. It's unlikely that buyers will find a better option for this rare collectible.

Re: Vintage Walt Disney & Disneyland Collectibles

Dear Dave,

I deal with mostly books and videos. So I am quite the Disney neophyte. I recently found a Disney Item. It just says "Walt Disney's Story And Songs from Cinderella". In the top right corner it says "storyteller Cassette" and in the top left hand corner is an audio tape. It is about the size of a record album and has a picture of the fairy godmother pointing at Cinderella's glass slipper with Cinderella on the right.

Any idea what the correct name is for something like this and how much it's worth?

Thanks,
Adam.
