Origin of Primitive Textile?

Hi~

If anyone happens to know where this handmade textile originates I would really appreciate knowing.  It appears to be quite old and reminds me of something Egyptian.

Thank you very much for taking time out to look!

Re: Origin of Primitive Textile?

Thank you very much for your valuable input. This piece is handsewn in 7 panels. The animals had been applied with some sort of dark brown dye (on one side the animals are very faded, likely due to having been displayed on that side. The image I initially posted shows the dark unfaded animals.)  The fabric is akin to a type of nubby grain sack or a coarse heavy-weight textured muslin.

Kind Thanks~

Re: Origin of Primitive Textile?

Thanks to you, Debora, my mind started ticking and I did more research and have found it to be an 'African Senufo Mudcloth' piece!
Much appreciated~
