Hate the discussion board format? Wish there was a place to have a running chat like in the old ebay chat rooms that they took away?
Here is the solution, one thread devoted to chatting about anything and everything about coins all in the same place.
Post whatever is on your mind. There is no official topic here. So let's get the chatting started.

Holas Munzen Aficionados:
"Post what is on your mind, there is no official topic here".
During 2014 Heron acquired various "HRE" coins and one of these is an 'Oh' coin.
Yes, a coin beginning with the letter 'O'. Is this news? Well, possibly.
The coins available starting with the letter 'O' are few and far between.
Researching Wikit's list of HRE states we find that there are only 39 'states'
beginning in letter 'O'. This is from about 1100 AD. Heron does not know
how many of these listed 'states' had minting 'rights'. Probably not all of the
states listed were granted minting 'rights'.
The coin Heron acquired is a One Batzen Silver 25mm dia. issued by Ottingen
and dated 1523. It depcts San Sebastian and for that reason Heron posted a
mention on the Saints 'topic'.
In the Standard Catalog of Germanian coins 1601 to 'present' there are only
5 listed 'O' coins. Heron has 3 of these:
Oldenburg.
Osnabruck.
Ottingen-Ottingen.
In the Standard Catalog of World Coins 1800 - 'present' there are no listings
for Swizterland or Italy. There is one for Austria and that is Olmutz. Heron has
an Olmutz issue.
So, finding and acquiring a nice Ottingen coin was a real treat for Heron
during 2014. And the search continues, along with enjoying the continuing fun
of world coin collecting! A lifetime hobby por seguro! Regardvs.
xx

Hi smedley miss you over at the PD thread on the soapbox. You dropped in for a spell but then dropped out. I know it's not the same when it was on this board. Too much competition from the other political threads I guess.
