Managed Payments

I'm sure this has come up before, but can't seem to find it on this board.

Does anyone know how Coin & Paper Money and Bullion sellers are going to be handled in the new Managed Payment world? Are they going to be allowed to keep using PayPal?

Re: Managed Payments

from what i've seen, there won't be a change in payment options...

...but if they force managed payments on us, i will stop selling... i don't have any issues as is, and now ebay wants to get their hands on my money? not gonna happen... there's zero reason for ebay to get in between my money and my account...

Re: Managed Payments

Just wondering because according to eBay, Managed Payment participants will not be allowed to sell these items:

Sellers enrolled in managed payments are not allowed to list the following items:

  • Adult only items, including movies and video games
  • Auction services
  • Bullion
  • Coins & paper money
  • Gift cards & coupons
  • Lodging, timeshares, vacation packages, and car rentals
  • Memberships for campground and RV parks
  • Motor vehicles
  • Smoking cessation products including nicotine patches and gum
  • Tickets for travel, events, or experiences
  • Wine

Re: Managed Payments

any updates, it makes no sense, why you can't list coins.

Simple process you sell the coin

ebay keeps 12% and you get 88%...  am I missing something??  What is the basis for restricting coins compared to stamps ???

Re: Managed Payments

I agree. How can they not warn you to NOT send an item out to buyer because funds will be held until info is verified. So off went my item for $700 and now my money is held hostage, but the buyer has my item and eBay took their cut too. WTH! This is my last sale on eBay. Ridicules business practice. Also, eBay doesn't itemized their fees. $87 fee for a $700 sale and that doesn't even include the shipping label/cost to ship.

Re: Managed Payments

Why does eBay have this policy?

"When eBay manages the end-to-end payments experience, there are additional restrictions on what items can be sold. We are working to expand the types of items allowed by sellers in managed payments, and ensure we are compliant to support them in the future."

Re: Managed Payments

I would believe they are a big enough customer of Adyen, that they can update the rules easily.

Otherwise:

Well, can't ebay just exclude foreign sales for coins.. (and other restricted items)

Another solution is to offer paypal payments for those restricted categories.

It really doesn't seem to hard to find a solution... but maybe I simplify things to easily.

Thanks for your help.. I am not venting at you but ebay.
