I ran across a 1975 penny that looks as if the number 7 [part of the number 7] is stamped on the bottom part of the number 5. Here are a couple of photos of the penny- can anyone give me any more information about this error and should I have it appraised or graded? thank you for any responses with information.

In addition to my post- the second marking could be a 9 - it's either a 9 or 7 I think.

damage from some kind of machine... most likely a coin roller or coin counter...

if that were the case wouldn't there be damage on the outer rim and/or on face of coin? Not just on the raised part of the last number of the date?

Yes, there is damage on the obverse of the 1975 Cent piece.
Even Heron can see it.

Thanks for your opinion/input-- I'll just go to the Denver mint and check with them since I'm only a few blocks away from them.

Denver mint please return here and advise us of the results. We are interested
in such informacion. Thanks in advance. el Heron
