My $1960.00 purchase was never shipped. After a longer than usual wait I was getting "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later." so I kept trying every few days. I finally figured out how to get EBAY involved and was told that seller is no longer with EBAY. EBAY did not tell me this until 3 days after them being able to help me. I could not contact the seller because of the "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later." instead of HEY YOU MIGHT WANT TO PUT IN A CLAIM THIS SELLER IS SCREWING YOU! So EBAY is still able to contact the seller: they did, and the next day the seller posted they would ship item. They posted a stolen tracking # from the post office showing a one(1) pound letter was sent to someone in my town from the next town over from me. My seller is in California and I'm in NH. My order weighs in at around 150 pounds with the pallet it would ship on(125) bare. The post office does not deliver anything that heavy. So to sum it up EBAY was complacent with the seller and their policy by not helping me and letting a seller leave EBAY without notification to buyers with outstanding orders, and I am out $1960. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you used PayPal or a credit card to purchase. File a case thru them.

Yes, if you read here there are almost daily posts now about the "fake tracking scam". On eBay, you would lose any claim for "item not received" since there is "tracking that shows delivered" even if it is fake. If it is now past the time allowed for you to make an eBay claim, you can go to PayPal (if you paid that way) or to your credit card company. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAKE SURE IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THIS IS A FAKE TRACKING SCAM AND NOT A REGULAR ITEM NOT RECEIVED ISSUE.
If you don't, the claim will be sent to eBay and they will respond with the same fake delivery confirmation information, and you will lose again. The process is automated. Everyone will ignore the "elephant in the room" so to speak.
Generally speaking, when this happens it becomes the BUYER'S problem, for eBay's Money Back Guarantee will not be applied even if the tracking number was issued before you even purchased the product or it is for a 3 oz. package, and your item weighs 200 lbs. Some have found help via the eBay social media channels where they are well informed about this scam, and do have the authority to help you. They may just throw you under the bus if your time to make a claim has expired as well. Won't hurt to try though, especially seeing as how your "seller" has already been given the proverbial axe.

You can do a bit of reading on this board for fake tracking scam. Sort by date since the threads go back to 2015, and the remedies have changed somewhat over time. Do come back if you have more questions.

For info on how to deal with a fake tracking number scam by contacting ebay through social media which is the last method you have to get a refund via ebay. Read my reply written on 8/9/23 in the link below. It will tell you what you need to do to get resolution.

Actually, it appears that eBay is apparently allowing Naru'd sellers to provide tracking information in these instances now. I have only read about four so far this past week, but it would not surprise me at all. If nothing else, it would provide eBay another opportunity to DENY when a small parcel is delivered to the local CVS, or library instead of to the buyer.

Okay. It's the first I heard of non-ebay members posting information on eBay. Must be something new.

The fact in my case is ebay did not inform me that the seller of my item left ebay without fill my order. Every time I checked I kept getting "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later." by the time I realized what was going on ebay said my time ran out by 3 days. I kept pursueing ebay and they eventually called me to confirm that they would not help me because the seller provided them with someone elses tracking # showing the post office delivered something to my town. A simple call to the post office would confirm it was not to me or my address, but ebay refuses to do so. This all happened after my period to complain was over.

Well hopefully you were smart enough to pay with a credit card. I seriously wonder. Good luck to you.

Sellers cannot just close their accounts and become nolonger a registered user (NARU). The were kicked off the site by ebay. They also removed the item information, from searches triggering the OOPS message. You had 30 days from the last estimated delivery date to file a dispute, and if the seller did not respond to it within 3 days, on day 4 you could have asked them to step in. That info is covered in the money back guarantee (MBG) policies.

Because of shipping agencies privacy policies, ebay not being the sender or addressee, is not entitled to get any more info than the tracking information and the Delivered scan.
If you opened the link I posted this morning, you can try going through ebay's social media pages. In those instructions it tells you what you need to do to get this straigtened out. However, the P.O. will only confirm to you in general that the address on the shipping label, does not match yours in the Order details.

Hi @timothyd603
I know it's difficult, but you need to temporarily pause your anger towards eBay ... and direct your mental energies towards getting a refund. eBay can no longer help you with that. Here's what to do:

Thanks I am in the process of doing that, but ebay is very aware of what they did to me and I will never get over the fact that they sided with a criminal.
