In order to use your tax exemption you need to register the documents with ebay. The link below tells you how to do that. The info in the link says it takes 10-15 days for ebay to process the info, but it often takes them 30 days or more.

If you also buy items for home use that should not be exempt, you may want to start a new ID just for the tax exempt purchases only or you could end up dealing with your state's treasury dept.
