feedback

eBay has drifted afar from when I was a daily seller.   Then feedback was considered an important input from buyers and sellers, important especially to sellers.  eBay cooperated in that by putting reminders up front so that buyers and sellers did not forget.  Now that practice and the spirit it represented is pretty much out of sight and forgotten.  That is a disservice to both buyers and sellers, and it says a great deal about the "new and improved" ebay, which is mainly another outlet for retailers -- an Amazon wannabe.  It's too bad; eBay used to be special, a star in the firmament of informal commerce.

Re: feedback

If you are complaining about buyers not leaving FB, you do know it's entirely optional/voluntary, right?

So someone who has 960 FB, 100%, is concerned about not having enough feedback?

Re: feedback

Asking for feedback, emailing reminders for feedback etc. is a close 2nd to Phone Solicitors.

I see, I buy, don't bug me, don't flood me with emails, messages or phone calls.

That is the wish from most on this planet.

Re: feedback

Ebay still sends reminders.

Many buyers who do a lot of shopping online on many sites just don't bother to leave feedback for purchases because they don't want to spend the time on it.

They feel the same about feedback as they feel about being asked to review products on every purchase they make everywhere- like it's an annoying time consuming thing.

Then, on-line buying was new, exciting, and different.  Everything about it was engaging and interesting.   Getting and receving feedback was an early form of the social media experience.

Now, people buy stuff on-line routinely, all the time, and just as they never "left feeback" at A&P or Sears or the local secondhand store, they don't leave it at the on-line equivalents.  And if they want a shot of the faux fuzzies from people they don't actually know, they have Facebook, etc.

Re: feedback

Leaving feedback is optional.

If sellers could leave true feedback for some buyers, I bet there would be a lot more sellers leaving feedback.

As it is now, feedback for buyers is pretty much worthless, since all they can receive is positive.

Have a great day.

Re: feedback

Feedback is and always has been voluntary on eBay.  Since 2008 sellers have only been permitted to leave either positive feedback or none at all for buyers.  Many sellers have chosen the latter option.  Many buyers have chosen to do the same.
