This bug means you can buy an item that is totally different from what ebay will report that you bought. And they will think you're crazy and you will think you're crazy (unless you figure you can't be wrong...) Think it's impossible? simple to show.
1) Google "Wireless Thermometer Hygrometer Humidity Mini Bluetooth Sensor" - in search results
2) click on 'shopping' tab - a top result should be ebay. Click on ebay listing. Then proceed to 'view on site' (blue button).
3) View item "sensorpush ht1 wireless thermometer"
4) Click "add to cart" (you don't buy it - just add it to the cart)
5) View in cart and notice that title and description have totally changed (now listed as "Wireless Thermometer Hygrometer Humidity Mini Bluetooth Sensor")
So if you, like I did, do a "buy it now" from the 'clean screen' - you are, in fact, getting something totally different from what you think you are ordering. If you go and check "check original listing" you do not see what you ordered.
There is something messed up in the new interface as the verbose URLs use the same number but must connect to different descriptions.
Now I need to return this item and get paypal refund because it's an ebay issue that they may or may not own up to.....
On ebay for 21 years. Occasionally I will not read fine print or be in a hurry - that's on me. But I've never had an instance where what I bought and what ebay 'reported' I bought were totally different.

"There is something messed up in the new interface as the verbose URLs use the same number but must connect to different descriptions".
Your issue sounds like it was created by searching on Google and getting an "intuitive search" link to ebay. Google and ebay's interface do not always return appropriate results.
Why didn't you just search on ebay instead of going through Google? Also placing items in the Cart instead of the Watch list can cause issues as well. Had you placed it in the watch list chances are when you went to pay you would have noticed the full title difference and not bought the wrong thing. You do not have to add items to the Cart to pay, you can pay directly from individual listings. The Cart is best used when paying for several items at one time. I never add items to the cart until I am ready to pay for multiple purchases.
"Now I need to return this item and get paypal refund because it's an ebay issue that they may or may not own up to".
Why should eBay admit to anything wrong in this situation? You are the one who did not do your due diligence as a buyer and check what was listed in the Cart, before committing to buy. When I want to buy from ebay, I search on eBay. I've seen Google "suggested" search results being worse than the ones eBay sometimes returns.
Unfortunately, you will be out the return shipping cost in order to get a refund. That should be enough to make you double check before paying.

I'm sorry you did not understand what I wrote. But let me get your position right.
If I go to an eBay page on an eBay site and hit "buy it now", it is actuality MY mistake that the system gets the item wrong......
Please clarify as your logic seems to be beyond me.

I did not do my due diligence as to what was in the cart? Why on Earth should that be my responsibility? LOL
Aside from being unclear on logic or ethics, or how ecommerce systems work. What was the point of your response? To apologize for eBay?

It sounds like you bought the item from the product page instead going to an individual listing. If you would have clicked on "see all (61 or whatever number) brand new listings" you would have noticed that the listings are different from each other. The catalog and product pages are notoriously wrong, so buy from a listing, not the product page, since you don't want to use the cart.

Yes, there seems to be a bug that I was unaware of. ☹️

Oh, it's not a bug. eBay will show you what it wants to sell you. In your case, it was the lowest price item. But if you look at the other items, you'll see they have different pictures and descriptions; also you can vet the sellers and compare shipping times, etc.
It feels like everyone needs to take a course on 'how to buy' when you want to purchase something on eBay. But Amazon is getting just as bad. And stores like Walmart, Sears, Best Buy and others are all adding marketplace sellers into the mix, so it gets very confusing and frustrating.

Because it is your cart.Always confirm item is correct before committing to buy and yes it is your fault if you do not and get the wrong item.

Um, that's exactly what you Googled.

This is pretty funny. There is a bug, we all agree upon that.
If there were no "buy it now" then those saying I had fault would have some basis (but still be legally wrong, that's why we have bait and switch laws folks).
But there is a bin so the bug causes liability to me in that I have now ordered something I do not want, and the vendor will have to eat the cost (a screen shot of the bin option is pretty compelling to those but eBay fanbois).
So they should fix it.

They must've fixed it because when I put that (copy/pasted exact) into Google, ebay is not even shown over the 1st 3 pages (I quit looking after that)
