I don't want to connect my card for saftey reasons. My eBay forces me to connect a card before bidding. From what I remember, you can bid without adding a card and have a current amount of time to pay.

There is now a buyer requirement that sellers are choosing that yes a buyer must submit payment information before bidding or making offers, also if you do win the payment will be automatically charged.
Too many non-paying bidders..

There is now a buyer requirement that sellers are choosing....
@anjofak
More like there is a buyer requirement that eBay chose for the seller (and never told them about) with the default set to YES. That "default" had no effect until the BUYER ID is forced (without their consent) is also enabled by eBay. They are actively enrolling buyer IDs daily, and it seems a "good buyer experience" is no longer a top priority.
A seller can remove the preferences (providing they know about them) and DO wish to offer combined shipping for multiple auction wins or offers from the buyer.
Sellers that do not wish to provide the opportunity for multiple purchases for a combined shipping amount are free to leave the preferences in place.
eBay said they started this program because of the non-payer bidder problem. Actually, it would be much easier to dispense with the non-payers than to subject long time good buyers to this nonsense. Instead, buyers pay more, sellers pay more, and eBay makes more money. They neglected to inform the sellers, that though Non-Payers may eventually be decreased, so will the buyers that have faithfully paid for years who enjoyed buying multiple purchases.

Buyer Payment Requirements
*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.
*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.

That's easily avoidable by setting a BIN with best offer as an option. You can use the auction format, but there's A LOT of troiuble that going along with it. With BIN with best offer as an option the buyer can ask all their questions before bidding NOT after like most do with auctions. Plus you get serious buyers only.

THANK YOU for summing that up perfectly. Ebay seems to like crapping on the long-time, faithful buyers/sellers in order to cater to the new generation of scammers and grifters. Is it too much to expect from eBay to research new accounts? Why not a probationary period where new accounts are required to enter payment info rather than those with 100% feedback and 12 years of longevity.
THANK YOU for addressing this professionally (I seem to use a few too many cuss words and sarcasm when I get lit)

Buyers feedback doesn't mean much since they can only receive positive feedback.
There's plenty of buyers that's been here a long time that's missed a few payments, so it's not just new buyers.

If security is your concern @jaxdoesthings there is a solution to that if your credit card offers it. My credit card has a feature where you can log in to your online account and get a sort of dummy number. It's called a Virtual Account Number. My CC even allows me to set an expiration date for that number. I can use that number in place of my actual CC number for any online transactions. It's a security feature. Check with your CC to see if they offer something similar.

If you win the auction how are you planning on paying?
It doesn't matter if it's before or after, you're going to have to provide a payment source.

Payment utilizing PayPal, which is a payment processor

With auto pay, wouldn't I be submitting credit card information to ebay , which is not a payment processor .
And I would not be submitting my information directly to a payment processor , Ayden

Re: auction Auto pay
It matters for a buyer to lose paypal's 180 day buyer protection since ebay provides a buyer with only a 30 day MBG .

sellers aren't "choosing" it. it is automatically defaulted to that setting for sellers.
