charges for shipments

Hello friend, I see in recent times that sellers are abusing shipping costs, that is, if a seller sells 3 items and someone wants to buy all (3) you should not have to pay 3 shipping fees if it is only an order, eBay should limit shipping costs to one (1) per order and not per item.

That would be called "combined shipping" and not all buyers do it, nor are they required to do so.

When a buyer is planning on purchasing more than one item from the same seller, he needs to ask, in advance, if the seller will combine shipping.

It should be noted also that items shipped with the Global Shipping Program cannot be combined.

eBay makes no effort to regulate shipping fees in general.

So do you think 3 items weigh the same amount as 1 item? You might want to rethink your statement. Apparently you've not shipped much if at all.

It's best before buying just to ask the quick question.

I'm happy to combine shipping and adjust it according to the weight of the package the items ship in.

If a buyer pays before asking, I'll even take the FVF hit and refund a portion... if the buyer just asks the quick question.

Your refund of shipping fees is good, but in my opinion you should be refunding based on your shipping costs.

Which includes eBay and PP fees.

If your customer paid $10 and you would refund eg $3 for postage, less 10% eBay fees and 2,9% PP fees.

Shipping costs include those fees, certain taxes, fuel surcharges (maybe that's just Canada Post), and the packaging. Bubble wrap is not free.

@robper_kqv2p,

If you read every thing on listing pages, you might find a seller will combine shipping, and will give instructions on what to do before paying.   Most sellers will combine shipping if asked in advance of buying and paying.  If you pay before asking the seller loses some of the fees charged by ebay and PayPal when they send a refund.

One thing that throws off many members is, seeing that a seller has several different items for sale with automatically calculated combined shipping;

Ex. Buy 1 item pay $7.50 shipping. For each additional item add $0.50.

The seller may list several items with the same combined shipping rule, but if you buy 1ea. from different listings, the automatic rule is not applied since they are each different items.

You also have to realize that combined shipping for different items may not save you any money depending on the final package size and weight.  Most of the shipping services will raise the cost if a package is more than 15oz over a pound.  Shipping costs can go up dramatically if a box's dimensions go over a given size.

Ex. USPS dimensional weight calculation.

The USPS has a formula for setting Dimensional Weight rates: A package dimensions are multiplied, Length X Width X Height. If the result is more than 1 Cubic Foot (1728 cubic inches), divide the result by 166 to determine the Dimensional Weight
