I had a similar issue not long ago.
I usually bid at the end of the auction and then pay as soon as the auction ends. In one case, the item seemed to be stuck in limbo for a few minutes, until finally after a refresh, the "pay now" link appeared and everything was fine after that.
Just keep an eye on that listing and pay when the link does appear. If it does not happen soon, you may have to get in touch with eBay through the Help & Contact page.
